Daniels: Rangers not interested in Sosa
From Anthony Andro at the S-T blog:
I just got an e-mail back from Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels. I asked him if the Rangers would have any interest in Sammy Sosa, who didn't play this year after having a productive season for the Rangers in 2007, but wants to play again. Don't expect to see Sosa back in Arlington in 2009 was basically Daniels' response. "I don't think we'll pursue Sammy," Daniels wrote. "He did a great job for us in 2007, but I'm not sure it's a fit for us this year."
So much for that.

Why do we need either?
Is this all assuming we trade Blalock, or have we decided not give Hankles a shot a DH’ing this year?

Good, we don't need Sosa.
We have Max Ramirez. Also, cross out Randy Johnson from our list as well.
The Giants have signed Randy Johnson to a one year deal, the team announced in a press release. Andrew Baggarly and Ken Rosenthal were both right on this one.
MLB.com’s Chris Haft heard from a baseball source that the deal guarantees the Big Unit $8MM in 2009 and includes performance bonuses that could reach $2.5MM and award bonuses that could reach another $2.5MM.
Johnson joins fellow-Cy Young Award winners Tim Lincecum and Barry Zito in a San Francisco rotation that also includes Matt Cain and Jonathan Sanchez.
heh
lol @ zito being mentioned in the same arena as Lincecum, and before Cain/Sanchez
Gerald Laird: One Man, 5 Scoops.
Teagarden
for those who might be interested on an otherwise slow night:
- in response to Laird trade, Teagarden says he’s excited because it gives him a comfort level that he knows he’ll be playing at the major league level next year.
- asked which minor league guys have the best stuff, he said he hasn’t caught Feliz or Holland. Was most impressed by Hunter, also mentioned that Hurley and Mendoza have lots of talent.
- his arm is 100%. Says he would have caught 90 games if not for Olympics.

Well, I'm bummed
Now I won’t ever have another excuse to post my Sideshow Sammy creation.

Could he possibly say of interest?

Just stop replying dude
HH is on a roll, just let him talk to himself so I can sweep through his blocks of comments without having to read them.
"I´d like to apologize in advance for anything that I may say or do that could be construed as offensive as I slowly go NUTS."
So
Am I correct in assuming there’s no IP ban? Or does he not even get banned and just makes new names?
by brettgardner on Dec 26, 2008 9:50 PM CST up reply actions
that's really none of your fucking business
you trying to back stab me you sell out. Why would you even ask that
Well.
He didn’t get banned for dropping the N bomb 6 times in 3 posts, so I’m guessing there’s very little he can do at this point to get banned.
+1
"I´d like to apologize in advance for anything that I may say or do that could be construed as offensive as I slowly go NUTS."
What makes me a sad panda is that someone noticed it, deleted his posts, and didn’t ban him.
I’m not asking AJM to be Rev here, but whipping out the banstick is totally necessary sometimes.
Well
If there’s no IP ban then I’m not sure it’s going to do anything.

I'm going to tell you something Brett
For you to even ask something like what you just asked about me being banned is a betrayal.
You have disrepected me by what you asked.
You are a disgusting punk snitch. You trying to RAT me out yu fucking ass. By mentioning my name.

Daniels gets a B- this year

Interesting
Of course, that same year, he dealt away John Danks in perhaps his most illogical move to date.
I disagree with that statement. The trade was not even illogical at the time. The SD one was worse. It’s so easy for these writers to say such things years after a trade.
by coolrangersfan on Dec 26, 2008 11:11 PM CST up reply actions
Agreed
Daniels has made only a few moves that were illogical. The A-Gon/CY trade, basically letting Galarraga go for nothing instead of finding another way to clear the 40 man roster, and some minor moves like letting Castro go and the whole Sosa debacle. There were moves that ended up poorly, but he hasn’t made that many moves that could be considered illogical.
And I thought this was a funny line from the 2006 review. In reference to the Nevin/Hairston swap:
If Daniels couldn’t get anything better than Hairston, he should have just held on to Nevin and tried to deal him closer to the trade deadline. Daniels gets an F for this one.
The guy seriously gives JD an F for that move.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Galarraga
not really illogical. He didn’t think Galarraga would be that good so he let him go.
Mandatory reading before suggesting a trade
The problem was
that there was other clutter on the 40 man roster that could have been let go. I don’t really feel like going too much into this since I think Galarraga was a fluke last season, but there were worse players that could have been let go.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Vazquez comes to mind
I remember thinking why is Vazquez even on the 40 when we can find a utility guy anywhere? But Vazquez did prove me wrong there.

Feldman
I was cheering for Feldman to be let go. I guess I would of been wrong on that one.
