Humorous headline of the day

From mlb.com:

Hendrickson Signing Solidifies O's Staff

Mark Hendrickson turns 35 in June, has a career 5.07 ERA, and has an ERA north of 5 in 3 of the last 4 seasons (including a 5.45 ERA for the Marlins in 2008).

That's some kind of solidifying.

Hendrickson Signing Solidifies O's Staff

As one of the AL’s shittiest?

He sucks as a starter.

However, he would not be bad as a LOOGY. He can handle lefties (.685 OPS) and has pitched well as a reliever over his career (3.39 ERA .625 OPS in 103.2 IP). I was hoping Hendrickson would stop insisting on being a starter and that the Rangers sign him as a reliever but oh well it’s a moot point now. The O’s are dumb if they keep him in the rotation all year.

Of course

he solidifies a staff because he’s a stiff. Still, when are we going to get around to signing a lefty reliever? Ohman is still out there.

Guardado is more likely than Ohman.

I think Ohman is looking for at least a two year deal and the Rangers wouldn’t do that.

What about

Darren Oliver? Think he’d be ok?

There are still plenty of LH relievers in the free agent market

including Ohman, Guardado, Beimel, Shouse, D. Reyes, Villone, Ledezma, Fossum, Flores, R. Rincon, T. Johnson, and Parrish. I think Ohman, Beimel, and Reyes are looking for multi-year deals so that probably eliminates them from the Rangers wish list.

I was about to say Ledezma sounded interesting

Based on his reputation as a live arm. Then I ran his numbers, and sheeeeesh his walk rates are insane.

Do. Not. Want.

Rangers looking hard at Turnbow, according to TJ.
The Rangers are one of three teams competing for Turnbow, along with the Marlins and Pirates. Turnbow has had shoulder issues and appeared in just eight games for the Brewers in 2008.

But he was 7-1 with a 1.74 ERA and 39 saves in 2005 for the Brewers, and he has been recommended by new pitching coach Mike Maddux.

Eddie Murphy was funny in 1993

but I wouldn’t book him for a party this year.

I'm just killing time until I'm reincarnated.
