A game against the Padres is a "Premium Game"?
Why not make games against the Royals and Baltimore premium games also? Everyone likes to watch excruciatingly boring teams after all. I guess the Padres have several former Rangers folks could go boo for no good reason.
Just guessing
a bobblehead day maybe? Probably wrong though

Interleague I would guess
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
It's a premuim game
Because the Padres have one of the few offenses in the majors our pitching actually might be able to shut out.

if he does that
I suspect A-Gon takes 2 from Padz
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

This team
is pretty tone deaf when it comes to ticket prices and some other fan relation things. I predict, though, there will be numerous special deals throughout the season as they get desparate to put butts in seats.

I don't see a big deal in these prices
I went to 15 or so games last year and not once paid full price. I get that people are struggling, but this is relatively small unless you have full season tix or whatever.

Elasticity
The price changes might be small, but what is the elasticity of baseball tickets for Rangers fans? The Arlington area is not a baseball town like Boston, so a small change might adversely affect the casual fan. Will parking prices be going up as well? Also, gas prices will rise next summer, which is another cost of going to see a game.

Gas prices
I highly highly doubt gas prices will be more next summer than they were this past summer

I yearn for the day
a DART rail/TRE line will ride straight up to the ballpark ala Victory Station & AAC
"Relying on the government to protect your privacy is like asking a peeping tom to install your window blinds."
Good luck with that....
even with the Jerryworld opening up next door, Arlington is so against lightrail it’s maddening. Exactly why the area around Jerryworld and TBiA is a disaster right now, trying to make the roads bigger.
They don't want "slummers" to come to Arlington...
…Even though there’s a tribe of them at 30 and 360.

I wanna say
that in the mid ’80s the Field boxes were $13, and the bleachers were like $1.
I could be wrong, but thats what I recall. Basicly tickets were roughly the same as a movie, maybe twice as much.
Nolan Ryan is the Greatest Pitcher ever, because Google says so.

Bleacher seats were $4 when the Ballpark opened.

I was at that game!
That was the game that George Brett recorded his last basehit as a player.
It appeared that Manny Lee layed out on the grounder… so that Brett could have his last shining moment.
The crowd gave him a standing ovation… and I think Chuck said something on the PA.
It was cool.

Other Teams
According to this article, 13 teams are holding ticket prices at the same level as 2008, 12 teams are raising prices, 3 teams are decreasing prices, and 2 teams are undecided.

Good points from Siegler
The price difference isn’t a big deal at all, there is little extra money needed to purchase the same tickets and there is always specials to lower the prices a bit. Still, why do anything that sends a message to the fans that they are raising ticket prices. The casual fan isn’t going to be hearing that the prices are basically the same, they’ll be listening to Galloway talking about how Hicks is raising ticket prices again.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Galloway???
So the 8 people that listen to Galloway want be there, that will really hurt. People that listen to Galloway want show up anyway, because he has them thinking he knows more than Jon Boy.
Galloway has his fans
And as dumb as they are, they will listen to him. Having him blast the team for raising ticket prices again isn’t going to help the Rangers gain more fans.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

well...

I think the price difference is a big deal
Regardless of the $1.00 hike for the other seats.
The big increase in price at the Cuervo Club, Premium Infield, Lexus Club, and Lower Infield is ridiculous and absurd. And it’s not fair to those devoted Rangers fans who like to buy tickets for the good seats.
also what about beer prices? Siegler is probably right on target: “Bet you beer goes up another quarter, too”
And I wouldn’t doubt if the damn parking goes up too.
I could care less about concession prices
Go to any sporting event or amusement park and you’ll pay a ton for concessions. If you’re expecting anything other than to be robbed by them, then you don’t get out much.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

i should clarify...
The big increase in price at the Cuervo Club, Premium Infield, Lexus Club, and Lower Infield is ridiculous and absurd. And it’s not fair to those devoted Rangers fans who like to buy tickets for the good seats.
the people you describe (“devoted fans”) are NOT paying price increases. if we pay our balance due by 12/17, our prices DO NOT go up.
how is this ridiculous? how is this absurd?
last year, several people here complained, complained and complained about parking. “why is it $10?” why? why? like a bunch of two year olds… last year, parking was FREE if you paid for your season tickets in full in december.
complain all you want, but these price increases DO NOT affect the “devoted” fans you seem so concerned about.
t ball gets the marketing opportunity that this creates. as dirk mentioned, people that just go a handful of times have the opportunity to pay 50 cents on the dollar a lot of the time. there are DEEP discounts on a regular basis, and citing “listed” prices (which some of you did last year) when no one pays listed prices is not representative of the true situation.
in reality, the higher prices help devoted fans. i can’t go to 81 games – even though i will be back in DFW this season. we have GREAT seats and sell a lot of the games on StubHub. the listed price is $80/$95. because we have great seats, i can sell them at that price (or higher) for good games. i’m paying less, so i can get more back than if the listed prices were $75/$84.
fwiw – i have my opening day ticket stub “framed” in the NationsBank acrylic stand. $16 got you front row seats, lower infield between the bases. that was 15 years ago.
