we got his best season...

at a very discounted rate. JD should be applauded for this, and for letting him walk. But I agree, he will certainly be missed.

I guess you heard Fat Joe left Atlantic.

Milton Bradley, you will be missed.

You were a beast-and-a-half this season.

indeed.

such a shame to see him most likely leaving. I’m glad we’ll get something in return, but I doubt whatever pick we get will accomplish what he has and would have for this team.

he will be missed…

Wait, check that

I just remembered the tarp slide in NY. That moment owns all other Bradley moments. Period. Anyone who says that wasn’t the best Bradley moment of the year is crazy.

Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?

Welp

That solves that problem I guess.

I one regard, I’m going to miss having Bradley hitting cleanup behind Josh (and breaking up fights on the field) but in another I’m not going to miss the weeks he’d spend listed as “day-to-day”. Great player, and actually a pretty good guy, but he just wasn’t right for our plans next year. Best of luck, Milton.

2nd Prospect

“The second prospect "is a 17-year-old who spent last season in the Dominican Summer League.” The deal will be announced Monday. Laird, a Scott Boras client, is under team control through 2010. "

If true, per GLaird...

more good riddance.

Now I liked Milton Bradley

when he was healthy and in the line-up (because he is fully capable of greatness) but he was neither when it counted.

Dip-shit Washington letting him sit on the bench when the team was playing the Angels in July to seemingly make sure he was healthy enough to play in his first AS game was more than unsettling.

Ditto for Dip-shit Washington making sure MB qualified for the batting title.

Strange reaction because this is a player capable of phenomenal stats but good riddance.

"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."

no, i firmly believe Washington

is among the dumbest managers in the game today.

do you disagree, bg?

I

Wouldn’t know about that. He definitely doesn’t seem the smartest guy in the world.

I was just commenting on the name itself. Something more alliterative would be in order. “Witless” Washington or somesuch.

No, after two years

I think Dip-shit Washington seems to work for me but then again I have higher standards than a lot of readers in this crowd.

i almost guarantee you that he fucks up the playing time between salty/max/teagarden this year

fucking yet another year of development up for one of them

by austin p. on Dec 7, 2008 11:35 PM CST reply actions

I expect laird to follow in the footsteps of his personality equivilant Kevin Mench.

Complain about playing time and then end up getting even less on other teams in short order.

the preceding post was a great success.

Thinking about DH

is anyone concerned (or maybe curious is a better word) that Smoak and Max Ramirez should be hitting their Major League stride around the same time? Those two and Crush make an interesting trio, but getting them all on the field will be a challenge. Surely Smoak will man 1B 90% of the time. So is Crush a DH until he hits FA? And if so, is Maximus only valuable to us as a trade piece once Smoak arrives?

I guess you heard Fat Joe left Atlantic.

by Haeger Champ on Dec 7, 2008 11:43 PM CST reply actions

so is it far beyond a possiblity that davis plays even -10 or -15 according to +/- at 3b this year?

we’ll even see him at 3B enough to know if he can play it this year.

C/1B/DH/3B

say these rumors of a Laird trade are true…and say we somehow manage to swindle Sanchez for Blalock and prospect(s) from the Giants. That would leave us in 2009 with Davis at 1st, Duran/Metcalf/free agent at 3rd (Duran or Arias the utility man), Salty/Teagarden at C…now who is the DH? Does Max have a shot at it, or will he definitely go to AAA to refine his skills? Will the catcher that is not behind the plate have the DH spot locked up? We will have a busy outfield early on with Byrd, Boggs, Hamilton, Cruz and Murphy…so I guess one of those five would make the most sense.

It looks like half way through 2009, we’ll have to trade Byrd (barring injury to one of our outfielders) to open a spot for Borbon. If he starts out as hot as he finished last year and started the year before, I wonder what we can expect in return?

"Hang-Dai, Wu...Hang-Fu$&ing-Dai"

by Walter Sobchak on Dec 8, 2008 1:45 AM CST reply actions

Byrd

If he has another season like his 07/08 campaigns, he could easily become a type A free agent… that would lead to two solid picks… with that factored in, the price would certainly go up
