Daniels denies that the Rangers are shopping Young
Richard Durrett with a blog post:
At least that's what one club official told me. There is a report out there that the Rangers were quietly seeing if teams are interested in Michael Young, but that is not the case.
Comments
Of course he does...
What else is he supposed to say?
And dear God, just imagine the ST articles from Galloway and Reeves if the Rangers trade Michael Young… LOL.

TR says the Rangers are meeting with him. I expect he should be in high demand and could even snag a decent 1 year guarantee. Still, I am not surprised they are talking with him.

Correction: The Rangers did not offer Inoa the kind of money you mention. It was reported they did, but my information was that the club only proposed a “What if…” scenario based on a bid double the size of Oakland’s. I don’t think they ever got to $5 or $6 million for him. The Rangers have never paid more than $1 million for a Latin American teen.

Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

OT: Potentially Bad News
Supposedly the Braves are close to getting Zach Greinke.

Greinke being taken out off the market for Jeff Francouer.

If KC's interest in Francouer is true,
what the hell is Dayton Moore’s obsession with hitters that aren’t good at getting on base?

Rangers, Sox still talking catching...
http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/projo_20081209_red_sox_rangers_buchholz.48086256.html
Texas president and Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan just told Mike Salk of 890 ESPN that the Rangers and Red Sox were having discussions this morning.
“There has been some contact over the last month,” he said. “Where it is today, I can’t tell you because I have to get an update to see where things have developed this morning.”
They’re not talking Buchholz, outside of this writer’s headline.
Anyway, I for one salute our insect overlords!

i find it interesting
that Jon Daniels does not say that the Rangers are keeping Young, or that he is not available, but rather that they are not shopping him. He could very easily nip this talk in the bud by saying the Rangers have no intention of trading Young, but he never says that.

also
I wonder when NR made this statement:
“We feel like, with our organization, we have the opportunity to make some trades with other organizations where we might try to get pitching back,” Ryan told the Journal. “We feel like we’ll have an opportunity to do something in the next couple of days.”
If this was after the Laird trade, then it makes it a lot more interesting. And I wonder how JD feels about Nolan going around making these sorts of statements.
