Why trade for Stackhouse if you are just going to buy out his contract making him a free agent that can resign with the Mavs in 30 days?

The reason

Stack would be invloved is to make the money work. The money and draft picks going to NJ are probably for buying out Stacks 2 remaining years.

yep

nba has rules where you can't just trade a huge salaried guy that you want to dump for a league minimum type guy.

i think they have to be within a % of each other salary wise

harris and stack couldnt play anyway

i guess they will just be really light on the bench for tonight.

it seems unlikely to me (though im just guessing) that the trade could be finalized soon enough and kidd be ready to play tomorrow night rather than just wait until after the break for him... but tomorrows game on tnt with shaq's possible debut would be pretty epic on tnt if it was kidds debut too. even if both trades were stupid.
