Offseason wrap-up

Not an analysis of who went where, but more the trends we might have seen in this offseason. It's a pretty good read.

The one thing I wholeheartedly agree with is the notion of overpaying for fewer years. It makes sense. A diary below discussed CC Sabathia's possible contract demands and compared him to Colon, who crapped out after five (?) years into his contract and whether Sabathia would do the same. I think it's a decent idea to pay him 40% more per year for only 70% of the years desired. That way, you not only aren't paying someone a backloaded contract when they suck, but you also don't have them on the 25 man roster. You have to a pay premium, but I think it's worth it.
