way OT: what type of wallet do you use?
UPDATE: thanks for the great response -- looks like this is a topic that's important to a lot of us. Many people keep their phone and keys in the same pocket, which I've never wanted to do because of the scratching risk (especially now that I own an iPhone!).
Also, wow -- I'm shocked by how many people carry pocket knives.
I've ordered the Executive Leather All-Ett last night and will see how it works in my back pocket.
After reading all the responses, I'm intrigued by the idea of a front-pocket wallet. If the All-Ett doesn't work out I'll return it and go shopping at a Fossil store (this one looks cool).
-------------------------------------
I know it's really random, but there's no baseball to talk about, so...
I've always kept my wallet in my back-right pocket, but I saw a chiropractor recently who urged me to not keep it there, as it keeps me off-balance and not good for my (already not great) posture. I'm realized my current wallet is becoming uncomfortable when I sit on it for an extended time, so it's probably time for a change anyways.
The problem is that I have a pretty set system:
-keys in right pocket
-iPhone in left pocket
-wallet in back pocket
So what is do you guys do? What is your system? I've always assumed everyone keeps their wallets in their back pockets, but researching on The Google I'm finding a whole category of wallets called "front pocket wallets", which are generally very slim and could probably fit in the same pocket as my cell phone.
I may order an All-Ett which is supposed to be a super-slim back-pocket wallet (which I found about here and here, and which is getting rave reviews from every user review I'm finding online).

Wallet
Plus, on occasion, the wallet in the left pocket creates the image of a much larger bulge. That helps when you are trying to impress a girl who likes guys with bulges that look like wallets.

it's european
Still, neither my phone nor keys are ever going to go there, because those are two things I always need with me, even when I don't have my bag.

I just don't keep too much stuff in my pockets
I don't have a cell phone (if I did, I'd clip it on my belt - I don't care if that supposedly looks bad), and I lost my knife, so I haven't been particularly weighed down lately. I also try not to overload my wallet with receipts or anything else that really doesn't need to be in there, and try to keep it as thin as possible. Another thing is I don't carry much loose change, if any - which really helps maximise pocket space.

+1
I have an ID, credit card, debit card and health insurance card and minimal cash all in my money clip.
My brother-in-law uses one of those binder clips you can find at work.

I have a...
It's very small, so it works well.
My system (I should state that I'm a lefty):
Left pocket: Keys & work phone
Right pocket: Wallet & personal phone
Back pockets: Random things, but usually receipts
This is basically what I have....I like it cause it's VERY thin.
by ortonius on Feb 22, 2008 8:52 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
That is what I carry
My system is similar to yours (except I am a righty):
Front right-wallet and keys
Front left-cell phone
Back-receipts and other slips of paper

I'm very much
I had a sciatic nerve issue from my big wallet and the Big Skinny has made all the difference.
I've had it about 2 years now and it still works great. The trick is to only keep what's essential. I use a business card holder for everything else - and keep it at home. If I'm going to Costco, I grab the Costco card, if I'm going to Kohl's, grab the Kohl's card. Otherwise my Big Skinny consists of my ID, 2 credit cards, 1 debit card, gym membership, and some cash. Less is more.
My system:
left pocket - keys
right pocket - cell phone, chapstick, and a tiny bottle of Purell (I'm a germophobe)
back right pocket - wallet
by neatfreakgeek on Feb 22, 2008 9:11 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
Big skinny
Thin but has lots of room for cards, and a window view for ID.
need to replace my current wallet, it's too bulky and the way its designed and how i sit on it has started bending some cards.

I'm a traditionalist
Front pockets vary. Keys are always front right. The rest is knife, carmex, blackberry (unless in a jacket pocket) and chew (relax - they're Bandits; I'm health conscious). Phone on the belt, not because I like it there but because it's always on vibrate and that's the only way I'll always notice it "ringing."

knives
Front left pocket, at work its a swiss army because thats not intimidating to people. When i'm out and about it's usually a benchmade or a spyderco.

Interesting comment
I've had the same knife since I was 10 or so. My dad got the same one for himself and we've both carried them for the last 25 years.

went front pocket nearly 7 years ago
I go with the bifold, slim wallet that holds a few cards and has a money clip (that never gets used b/c I never carry cash) on the outside.
front left pocket: wallet
front right pocket: keys and cell
Although once I get to work I unload everthing but my cell.

It's funny how many of us
I just use a standard bi-fold wallet, it's a lot thinner than ones I've had in the past, it doesn't have any flaps for pictures, or the flap for the drivers license. On a personal note... those flaps for the drivers license, with the plastic/clear cover suck ass! One of those ruined my old drivers license, just rubbed all of the ink off, my picture was ghosted into the plastic, you could seriously still see my face after I took the license out.
At any rate, I typically keep some cash, receipts, checks to be deposited, credit and debit cards, license, student ID (which is a debit card), some business cards which is stupid... and other store cards... blockbuster, albertsons, supercuts, etc.
I used a money clip that had the flat side for cash, and the thin pocket for cards when I was in high school for a couple of years. But the one I had back then was one of the really crappy generic men's gift ones, so it wasn't all that special.
But yeah, my system...

My debit card is less than a year old and already it has trouble swiping at some stores. Some people have told me that it has something to do w/ my wallet or how I put it in my wallet. Anybody have any of the same problems?

tri-fold man
Quit carrying a wallet in my back pocket when I was around 13(turned 31 4 weeks ago). Too many friends/punks grab it back in school. It goes in the front right pocket at all times. I can barely stand carrying a checkbook in my back right, and there's never anything in the back left (except maybe a girls hand). The front left was used for Copenhagen cans for 16 years, but I quit on my 30th, so now it usually keys or the phone (or smokes & lighter). If I'm wearing a coat/jacket, the phone will be in a pocket somewhere on it.
And when I have one before I lose it, a pocket knife goes straight down next to the wallet. I prefer the Smith & Wesson models with the clip to hook on the pocket. They come from the factory razor-sharp.
Hope this helps!

Not sure why
WORK
Tri-fold DKNY wallet circa 1990 or so.
DL, library card, ASE card, wallet pics of my daughters.
LF - Thumb drive, chapstick, lighter.
RF - Cigarettes, small flashlight.
LR - Wallet, sometimes comb.
RR - Gerber knife
I won't go into uniform shirt breast pocket, what's hanging around my neck, or off of my belt loops.
OFF TIME
1/2 time wallet, 1/2 time nothing - if possible.
I never carry my credit cards and carry very little carry cash. (married)

Last New Year's it came out. You'd think it'd scatter on contact with the ground.
The finder returned it intact, although my driver's license was gone. So I switched from Texas DL to New York ID.

I have a system, but I'm rethinking it now....
Front left - Keys
Front right - Phone, gadgets
Back right - Wallet
I'm definitely going to switch to:
Front left - phone
Front right - Keys
as I usually open doors with my right hand and answer calls with my left hand.
I also might switch my wallet to a front-wallet since my current one is dying on me....
Also, I don't get the magnetic belt clip connected to a credit card carrier?
Won't that cause some issues with the credit card?

I've got one of those old bifold wallets that has every card I own including blockbuster card, etc. Lot of it I could probably take out but if I have space, I put them in. I'm considering trying one of those slim wallets out, possibly even the alltel european one. I think I cuonted it up and there's 10 cards I probably need to carry and height and width it's about the same size, but my current wallet is lamost an inch thick loaded up.

Great Topic!
I'm a wallet in left pocket with phone, keys in right and change in back right. The back left pocket is reserved for papers or handouts I'm given, and stuff like that which I can fold up and keep in there. I hate the idea of keeping my wallet in my back pocket simply because it makes sitting uncomfortable.
