So AJM...
You may have said, and if so I missed it, but where do you stand on the catcher situation?  I know you were pretty down on the Rangers for the way they were jerking Laird around in the Barajas days.  Do you think he should be the starter and Salty go to AAA?

IM coming around to the fact that laird
looks like the better option at catcher right now.  Salts is still very young and at 22 people shouldnt be dissapointed about him losing the job.  He will catch full time in AAA in hopefully build enough momentum to take over the reins someday.

As for the right field job the Texas website says that Mench has the inside track, but I dont buy it.  Botts is having a good spring and if Mench can be sent to the minors for a month or two until Bradleys ready then lets take a chance on Botts and see what we have.

As for Nelson Cruz, he seems lost at the plate and thats what this article says(http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080312&content_id=2422178&vkey=spt2008ne ws&fext=.jsp&c_id=tex).  Hitting 200 isnt gonna win you a spot on this roster.

So in conclusion let Byrd and Murph play right until Bradley is ready and let cat and Botts play left and DH.  If someone fades too much Mench is in the wing waiting.  Laird can start and Salts can get a half or full year of conditioning at AAA.  There is no need to keep Mench on this team right know because we shouldnt have to lose both Botts and Cruz and there is no reason to keep Salts on this team if he isnt playing everyday.

Why don't we fill the roster
with low upside douchebags like Laird, and make sure players with upside get no chance to develop.  That makes perfect sense in a year like this, where the Rangers aren't going to win anything.

He hit 2 HR's today...
and AJM went crazy like the Rangers won the World Series.

It's becoming more apparent that the Rangers still want Salty to work on some things in AAA, and Laird will be the starting catcher.

Hey guys check out tims new video mailbag
at http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/.  I asked a question about our chances of being a C.C. Sabathia suitor.  Tim doesnt think its possible and sides with the big market teams, Angels, Yanks, etc.  Anyway check it out I like that new feature and cant wait till Adam does something similar.

Yep
That's why you trade Salty and keep Laird.

I hope
they're a sure shot and don't sabotage the team's chances for an intergalactic season. Or maybe they'll just fight for their right to party.

by Inkara1 on Mar 13, 2008 11:16 AM CDT up reply actions

Yep
The team is calling him their starting catcher, as Jarrod Saltalamachia has not done enough this spring to convince them otherwise. On top of that, Laird may DH on the days he does not catch, which should boost his value. And as a fan of this beast, once getting an autographed Baseball by him has been my dream for a long time. I am really excited to make my dream come true, two days ago I got one: http://dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=90269&ru=279 , now I believe Laird's experience and defensive abilities will boost his value!

by gladdream663 on Mar 13, 2008 5:24 AM CDT reply actions

Laird should never DH...
period. His only value is his defense. I could be wrong, but I don't think you get a chance to showcase that when you are the DH.

i don't understand
AJM's obsession with Laird......it's almost like MuscleFag's obsession with the ass of Kinsler and billybob

seriously, what has the guy done to warrant the loyalty? too bad adam's not another team's GM...

but i respect Adam's opinion a lot, just this one...not so much lol or i still respect it, just on the complete opposite end of the discussion
