Michael Main -- injured ribcage

Right-hander Michael Main, one of the Rangers' two first-round draft picks last summer, has a stress fracture in his rib cage. Main is not expected to pitch before late May.

At least it is not the elbow or shoulder.

Not that big a deal
Doesn't sound like they were planning on sending him to an affiliate before then anyway ala Kiker last year so it probably won't affect him too much.

Tim Wakefield
suffered a fractured rib cage in '06 and missed about 2 months.

Trivia
Kason Gabbard was called up from AAA to replace Wakefield in the starting rotation after the rib injury put him on the DL.

Hopefully
It has nothing to do with a throacic outlet.

Heh.
Not a problem for my pick to be the Ranger's #1 prospect next year.

I still can't imagine how to have a stress fracture in one's rib cage.  Is he breathing to hard?

Vitamin B12. You can get it in cereal or by an injection in the buttocks. Only one of the two ways ensures mutant muscle growth.

Whew
You almost gave me a heart attack.

I was thinking TJ surgery, or worse.

What's the over/under on how long it takes for Dwyade to show up at Heat practice limping on the wrong leg?

I changed the title
Didn't intend for it to sound so ominous.

I guess my #1 wish for this season is rapid, injury-free development by the high ceiling young arms. It sure would be great if all those guys  (Beavan, Main, Font, Feliz, Castillo) avoid injury and one of them just burst onto the scene and became a Kershaw type prospect.

Hambone, Hambone where you been? I been around these bases, and I'm going again.

Meh
Rib cage injury >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>shoulder injury >>>>>>>>>>>elbow injury

Is that backwards?

I guess what I was saying was
A rib cage injury is far preferable to a shoulder injury, which is far preferable to an elbow injury.

Elbow should be in the middle
Rib Fracture - no big deal
Elbow - TJ surgery is often successful.
Shoulder - Worst thing a pitcher can have go wrong.

+1
TJ can suck, but there's a pretty good chance a guy will come all the way back if given enough time.

Shoulder injuries are just plain scary. When I hear about a shoulder injury, the first thing that pops into my head is that the guy might be done for good.

I think about when I think shoulder injury is this:
