"The team has said he'll be a full-time catcher this year, but his ability to hack it defensively may determine whether that becomes a reality."

After listening yesterday, do you think he can cut it, behind the plate?  If he doesn't that would hurt his value a ton.  Trade him before it gets too bad?

Speaking of bad defense
it sounds like Teahen has really struggled the last few days.

Surprised at Kason Gabbard's rating
I'd have thought he'd be a sure red. Padilla, McCarthy and Jennings were all foregone conclusions, of course.

Not terribly many surprises, but a worthy read nonetheless.

Love the comment about F.F.
He has never been the same since the chair throwing experience.

when did Josh Howard start sucking?

I was wondering the same thing
He's so passive. A pure jump shooter. It's awful to watch. Dirkles has had a rough game, but he's a mid-range shooter, so you can't fault his shot selection, they just aren't falling today. Howard, on the other hand, should not be taking those shots. It's freaking awful to watch.
Look out, March. February is engorged and it's poking into you!

Swingmen + Dirk today
12-52

Unbelievable. And I'm completely sick of seeing George on the court. I don't care about the who trade thing, but he is just not NBA worthy right now.

He is
injured, back injury..

The real question is why isn't Avery playing Magloire?

Milton Bradley + Frankie Francisco = team chemistry

by miles on Mar 2, 2008 10:38 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Cause
he's been on the team for, what, 3 or 4 days now, and LA didn't play a true center at all today so there was no need to play a plodder like Magloire?

Those sound like good reasons to me.

Look out, March. February is engorged and it's poking into you!

One thing from today
Dampier has been great. I don't quite understand how Kidd coming and Diop going has this positive of an effect on Dampier, but I'll take it.

Also, I'm really sick of Bass playing like this and getting 15 minutes.

by Brett Perryman on Mar 2, 2008 5:18 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

damp
confuses me.

but ill take it!

positives:
dirk
damp
bass

negatives:
howard sucking it up.

Kobe was just unbelievable today
And to think, we could have had him at one point last year.

Oh, and this is for BG who thinks I made up the fact that Kobe wanted to go to Dallas...

I'll bet Kobe...
is really happy not to be in Chicago right now.

Kobe
was getting EVERY call, and Dirk wasn't getting anything even though Oden was clearly fouling him on every play.

Pretty retarded if you ask me.

question from LSB

"In the aftermath of last year's blister problems and stress fracture, and in light of his frame, how concerned should Ranger fans be about Brandon McCarthy's ability to stay healthy over the next few years?"

Is there a pitcher about whom a team and its fans shouldn't be somewhat concerned he can stay healthy? McCarthy falls into the class of the rest of them. Last year was certainly no picnic for the hurler, given the litany of injuries he went through. If there's a trend that should concern Rangers fans at this point, it's that McCarthy hasn't made the necessary adjustments he needs to make in order to stay healthy, whether it's with his grip or his mechanics. Still, as the old proverb goes, "If you hang around a barber shop long enough, sooner or later you'll get a hair cut." If McCarthy keeps getting hurt due to things that he may be able to control, the message that he'll need to listen to his instructors will sink in, and he may change for the better.

The fact that this analysis
Gives Kevin Millwood a "green light" pretty much negates a lot of it's credabilty. All it does is state the obvious: we have a ton of injury risks on this team. To quote Bart Simpson: "um - duh"!

And another interesting asessement: "Jason Botts could become a yellow light if the Rangers put him in RF in the stead of Milton Bradley". Huh?

Doesn't the article
Cite "despite hamstring" etc?  They seemed to know he currently has an achy hammy.

And yet they still give him a green light
Thanks for reinforcing my point!

the lights are based on a formula
including position, days spent on the DL, and a lot of proprietary info. He's not arbitrarily assigning him a green light, it's just what the numbers say. (Though I gotta admit he looks an awful lot like a yellow to me too.)

Botts
It's mainly because Botts sort of reminds people of big bird. Seriously, it really goes by position saying that big bad Milton goes to a yellow as a DH instead of RF, if Botts and he switch
