OT-Big
Hey, I have been around lonestarball for a good bit. I am 25 years old and broke my neck at work. I do have a ton of free time, so I was wondering which, if any movies ya'll would recomend. I am not a big reader, but I have been watching quite a few movies, so I would appreciate any books that ya'll might consider must reads. I have had a great chance to watch every March Madness game and a little spring training games. Thanks Dierk.

Well
I am a Distributor for Kraft. I am a vendor, selling Digiorno, Tombstone, California Pizza Kitchen to different accounts and stores. I had my fingers smashed and slammed into a receiving door and tried to climb up into this dock/big truck and started to feel dizzy. Next thing I knew I was face down on the concrete. I must have landed just right on my neck from only about 5 feet. I broke C6 and C7, I was blessed that it was not any higher in the neck.

On another forum
we were having a discussion on Kevin Smith versus Judd Apatow movies. There is some solid works from both:
Kevin Smith, writer/producer/actor:
Clerks (1994)
Mallrats (1995)
Chasing Amy (1997)
Dogma (1999)
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)
Jersey Girl (2004)
Clerks II (2006)
Judd Apatow, writer:
40-Year Old Virgin (2005, producer)
Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)
Knocked Up (2007, also producer)
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007, also producer)
As producer:
Celtic Pride (1996)
The Cable Guy (1996)
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy (2004)
Kicking & Screaming (2005)
American Storage (2006)
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)
Knocked Up (2007)
Superbad (2007)
If you want some light hearted comedy then check any of those out that you haven't seen.

Judd Apatow's best work, imo, was the quickly cancelled Freaks and Geeks
Launched alot of careers, and you'll notice that many of the actors from that series appear frequently in all his other work, Seth Rogen being most prominent.

I envy anyone who hasn't seen this show yet. Read the reviews. 252 total reviews, 252 5 stars.

Good luck
There are so many books you could read. Since you have lots of time I'd recommend a good fantasy fiction series, like those of Robert Jordan or George Martin. Harry Turtledove and Glen Cook are good shorter reads, too.

Thanks
That is a great start! I just have a lot of time to burn and I am so bored already after about a week and 1/2.

Jim Sheridan is awesome
Do the trilogy: My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father, and The Boxer. All phenomenal, all starring the acting genius Day-Lewis.
And if you like Barley, allow me to recommend an old school little gem with a similar theme:

Muthaeffin Jimmy Cagney...

Good Luck Bro
that sounds like a hell of an injury.
as for movies:
i dont remember the name but there was a movie on HBO recently with Mos Def where he plays Vivian Wright a black man who in the 30's and 40's assisted the Doctor who invented the bypass technique for the heart. Wright was the guy who basically perfected the procedure. Sounds boring and its a movie id normally pass by without thinking but it was great.
.500 or bust!

Pure randomness
A few of my "non-obvious" favorites.
Chinatown
North by Northwest
The Big Lebowski
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
L.A. Confidential
The Maltese Falcon
And with the 22nd overall selection the Dallas Cowboys select Jonathan Stewart.

Great choices
Didn't think LA Confidential was that great, but Chinatown...wow!
