Hicks and Gillette
I think that Adam has generally stayed away from the whole Tom Hicks/Liverpool saga in the main section, but a short AP story on his relationship - or lack thereof - with George Gillette Jr struck me because of the extremely poor light in which it paints Hicks.
I've been very critical of Hicks' apparent management style over the last several years, but from Gillette's side of the story, maybe we fans of the Rangers and Stars are fortunate that at least he doesn't have the element of a co-owner with our teams.

This thing is fascinating. Hicks and his partner bought the club from a Dubai group for $431 million in March 2007. Now the same group (I believe) has offered $993 million to buy it back. You can't fault him; if you've already been offered a profit of $600 million, better hold out for a billion.
What happened to my old signature?
Dubai Investment Corp
They didn't own the team previously- Hicks and Gillette purchased Liverpool from the Moores family. DIC attempted to buy the club, but were turned down by David Moores.
I don't know that DIC is any less mercenary than Hicks and Gillette, but they have a ton more money, and one of their lead investors has been a huge Liverpool fan for many years. I'd much rather have seen them buy the club. Hopefully that still comes to fruition.

That's right
I was going from memory. I knew that Dubai group had been previously involved somehow. Thanks.

Poor Gillette
Referring to his joint ownership with Texan billionaire Hicks, Colorado-based Gillett admitted: "This partnership has been unworkable for some time. But not because of us – we have tried to be co-operative, we have tried to be supportive but when your public persona is more important than the facts, that makes it difficult to have a rational relationship.
