Rays Claim Nathan Haynes
The Angels had been trying to foist Nathan Haynes on the Rangers as part of a Mark Teixeira trade, with Anaheim thinking last summer that Haynes was good enough to be the second or third player in a Teixeira deal.
And now today, he's a D-Ray, having been claimed by Tampa off of waivers.
This impacts the Rangers, to an extent, because Tampa was supposedly one of the teams interested in Nelson Cruz. The fact that they now have Haynes could mean that there is less of a market for trading Cruz, or that it is more likely that Cruz will clear waivers.
It also helps highlight how crappy the Angels' offers for Teixeira were last summer.

not D Ray
just Ray. its funny to think that in 20 years, someone will say "they'll always be the devil rays in my book."
And that someone...
...will be me...
And the basketball team in Washington is the Bullets.

Adam...
...He still thinks that team in Cincinnati is the Red Stockings.
And that team in LA is still called the Trolley Dodgers. And they don't actually play in LA, they play in Brooklyn.
Live in the now, crotchety old man! Live in the now!
Well, he is 100 years old

Angels offer
It never ceased to amuse me that the angels were convinced that their offer of Kotchman plus a couple of scrubs was overpaying for Teixeira. Bill Stoneman was the poster boy for overvaluing his prospects.
If we could have wrangled Nick Adenhart
And Brandon Wood from the Angels for Tex, that would have been nice. But the Angels weren't gonna do that...
