"Face of the Franchise"....could be traded?
"Batting Practice May Be Better Than Game"
By: Jennifer Floyd Engel
...Talking to Michael Young has me a little -- just a little -- concerned that he is not going to be a Ranger next season. What is crazy is he wants to be, and the Rangers want him to be, but their collective timing might just be a little off. Young is ready to be on a winner, like yesterday, while the Rangers are realistically a year, possibly two, away. So it is reasonable to see them reaching a point where they have to say goodbye.
And, yes, there are other teams that would be interested in Young at his salary. He is underrated and partly because he plays for the Rangers. We tend to bestow greatness tags on players who have done it in the postseason.
*********
What.....The......Hell.....
Are we serious here? Is this really a possibility this season? I'm not in the circles some of you guys are. Is Michael Young really THAT unhappy with the Rangers chances that he would want to be traded this year?
If this IS a possibility, who would be likely trading partners and who would we want from them in return?
P.S. I'm sorry if this is already being talked about somewhere else.

Agreed
There's plenty to discuss when it comes to Young and his future (we've covered this ground several times before) from his depreciating defense, to his lack of power #'s, to wht should be done with him once Andrus arrives, but the fact remains: that's at least 2 years in the future, in my estimation. So I wouldn't worry about Young going anywhere just yet.

P.S. I don't care if you're sorry ;-)
i seriously doubt he gets moved
- money
- not really any other "commercially" viable players on the team
- FoTF
- so underrated hes overrated (imo)

Just more proof
Young is still good, but financially there is no way he gets traded. He is very good still, but overpaid when you consider the future and his projected decline. For the Rangers to trade his contract would mean paying a good chunk of what he is owed in the future, and I can't see the Rangers doing that unless Young is playing well below average for his position.
throw her in the same boat

Call it the A-Rod effect
- Get paid
- Put pressure on current franchise by throwing out hints that you want to play for a winning franchise
- ???
- Profit!
Never gonna happen
That's a bold statement...
Nothing forces
I'll stand by my statement, it ain't gonna happen.
+1, unfortunately

As Arod showed...
Now do I think Young will do that? Probably not because he made his bed when he signed long term with the Rangers. But, loyalty doesn't mean much these days. In respect of Young, I could see him politely asking the front office to trade him to a contender if in 2 years we're not contending or taking a good step forward.
You know the guy wants to at least step foot in the playoffs before he retires. Forget a championship. Question is does he have the patience to wait for the Rangers to get there?

If we were to get a great package
Don't get me wrong, I like Young, but if it helps the team in the long run, I would drive him to the airport myself.
