Season predictions thread
So the real opening day is tomorrow. So lets hear what everyone's predicted division champs and ultimate champions are.
AL
East: Red Sox
Central: Tigers
West: Angels
WC: Indians
NL
East: Mets
Central: Brewers
West: Diamondbacks
WC: Dodgers
Mets over Red Sox world series.
Rangers record: 78-84; third place.
Note: I have no idea who to pick in the NL Central. I just know it won't be the Astros or Pirates. Also, I think the Yankees are about to have a really disappointing season and are a year away from ending up in third place behind the Rays.
Edit: Some people have added MVPs. I'll take advantage of my edit privilege and add mine
AL MVP: Miguel Cabrera
NL MVP: David Wright

Trying to be realistic (in my opinion)
AL - Red Sox, Tigers, Seattle, White Sox (WC)
NL- Mets, Cardinals, Rockies, Dodgers (WC)
Rockies over Red Sox for Ultimate Revenge (Rocks will pick up a great SP around ASB)
I think the Angels, A's and Rangers will all be within a couple of games of each other. I think the A's will be better than most give credit for. Rangers 80-82.
don't care about MVPs, they're meaningless to me.

Oh yeah, Rangers related predictions
Rangers finish in 3rd, 77 wins.
Kinsler makes all-star team as a backup and only Ranger.
Salty is traded for Ben Sheets and the Rangers immediately put Sheets on the 60 day DL.
Hicks is kidnapped by Liverpool Soccer fans who tie him up and kick balls at him until he agrees to sell his interest immediately.
Sharky is arrested for disturbing the peace at the Democratic convention, shouting "You wouldn't have arrested a liberal!" at his arraignment.
A working class hero is something to be.

Take This to the Bank...
AL
East: Red Sox
Central: Tigers
West: Angels
Wildcard: Yankees
Observations: I think this is fairly straightforward -- maybe the surprise might be that the Yankees get the East and the Red Sox get the wildcard. Cleveland was good last year, but the Tigers will just be stupidly talented in the Central and force the Indians to miss the postseason. Yes, Tampa is going to show some talent and prove that they teams should start paying attention in the years to come. But, I don't understand some of the other picks I've seen by others. Toronto? Ain't happening. Lastly, for what it's worth, I do think the Rangers will surprise some experts that have picked them last. I think they have a lock on third place and could potentially challenge Seattle for 2nd -- as others have already stated, it depends mainly on days on DL.
NL
East: Mets
Central: Cubs
West: Diamondbacks
Wildcard: Phillies
Observations: The NL is harder to pick. The Dodgers, Brewers, Padres, and Braves could all throw a wrench into my picks. My "Take This to the Bank" comment really applies to the AL...because, come on...nobody really cares about the NL, do they? And, the truth is that I don't really watch or read about the NL that much and that makes it difficult to make predictions. I don't think the Rockies have a chance, though. Overrated and a fluke last year.
Postseason: Diamondbacks and Red Sox. Red Sox win their 3rd championship in 5 years -- baseball fans everywhere (the same ones pulling for them) turn on them and root for the Diamondbacks...and start referring to Boston as the evil empire...

Cubs fans all commit mass sucide after they fail to make the playoffs. Reds are a suprise WC team, but are eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Mets.
World Series: Indians over Mets in 7. Pronk Hafner hits a walkoff HR in the bottom of the 9th inning off Billy Wagner in a stunning upset comeback after the Mets lead 2-1 going into the inning.
AL MVP: A-Rod (who else would win - but Josh Hamilton finishes second in MVP balloting, only gets screwed out of the award because A-Rod is a Yankee)
