I cant predict 7 runs

so ill predict millwood finds his 2005 self and the rangers win 3-2 w/ 2 runs off of whoever pitches the 8th.

2.0

Apparently one of the uber-kewl new features of 2.0 is that it starts not 1, but 2 (!) game day threads.

That's totally awesome. I never would have thought of that.

by Hubris on Mar 31, 2008 4:22 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

make that 3

game day threads.

back to 1

good job AJM.

by Hubris on Mar 31, 2008 4:37 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Does this mean he goes to the penalty box?

And I'm predicting 6-2 Rangers loss, sorry but we are going up against a Ranger-killer and we haven't fared too well on opening night

by Taylor on Mar 31, 2008 4:41 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Too cold for 7 runs.

I'll say 6-4 Rangers. Joking. 3-1 Rangers. Milly will be a Bully tonight.

BTW, really good game between Detroit and KC today. Royals slayed the Tigers in extra innings. Verlander outpitched Meche, by a little, even though Verlander's box score looks a little bit worse in some ways. Cabrera went deep all ready.

Kinsler back in lineup, per ST:

Ian Kinsler has risen from his sick bed and will be in the lineup today in the season opener. Fewer than two hours ago, he had been scratched with flu-like symptoms that included a high fever. But he took batting practice in the cage in the Rangers' clubhouse and declared himself fit to play.

-- Jeff Wilson

Woo-Hoo!

by rooster on Mar 31, 2008 4:29 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

phew

didnt say anything because i didnt want to even vaguely insult kins, but i thought it was pretty odd that he would miss opening day with a fever unless this was far more serious than most average cold/fever stuff is. a sick kinsler on medication > vazquez.

Hopefully we can get 2 runs in the last couple of innings

I'll say 5-2 Mariners. I don't see any reason why Bedard won't shut us down.

Hopefully I am dead wrong :).

or is MLB.com working like crap today? My connection has been fine as long as I've steered clear of any mlb site. Opening day overload maybe?

by TexasTiger on Mar 31, 2008 4:42 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

i think its worth mentioning

that johan hasnt given up a hit through 3 2/3

obviously not even 4 ip yet.. but hey, its johan in shea vs the marlins on opening day.

that rhymes.

also worth mentioning: mark hendrickson is the marlins opening day starter.

Seriously

We get a Rangers game on FSN HD, and they can't even do that right. Today has not been a good day for HD baseball with the Yankees game being cancelled and an SD Tigers-Royals feed being shown on ESPN, and the Cubs game being delayed. Ugh.

Television Broadcast

I have DirecTV, the sports pack with all the FSN channels and I subscribe to the extra innings.

Now, I am getting all the games on the FSN channels which I thought would be blacked out hence purchasing extra innings.

Is it just because it's the start of the year why the FSN channels are showing the games?

Beltre was in quicksand

That was a terrible throw. Salt would have had him, too.

+1

That was not one of Lardo's better throws.

by lonestarJon on Mar 31, 2008 7:13 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

OK

As much as I wish Salty was the starting catcher, that was a fine play by Laird...not the greatest throw, but got rid of that super quickly...

by bigsteve on Mar 31, 2008 7:25 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

has nothing to do with being tired

has to do with it being a 1-0 game and hes beginning to run out of gas.

is running out of gas. Get someone up in the pen (Benoit?).

that last pitch was a beauty

Ya....That's Real Mature.

by SMITTY on Mar 31, 2008 7:26 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

76 pitches for Millwood through five

At that rate I'd hope for two more innings... one more would be nice though, as it would qualify Millwood for a quality start.
