Opening Day...and there are new-fangled 2.0 things with the game day threads where I'm not even sure what it will do...
So we shall see...

Rangers win...
7-5.

I cant predict 7 runs
so ill predict millwood finds his 2005 self and the rangers win 3-2 w/ 2 runs off of whoever pitches the 8th.
2.0
Apparently one of the uber-kewl new features of 2.0 is that it starts not 1, but 2 (!) game day threads.
That's totally awesome. I never would have thought of that.
Does this mean he goes to the penalty box?
And I'm predicting 6-2 Rangers loss, sorry but we are going up against a Ranger-killer and we haven't fared too well on opening night
Too cold for 7 runs.
I'll say 6-4 Rangers. Joking. 3-1 Rangers. Milly will be a Bully tonight.
BTW, really good game between Detroit and KC today. Royals slayed the Tigers in extra innings. Verlander outpitched Meche, by a little, even though Verlander's box score looks a little bit worse in some ways. Cabrera went deep all ready.
Kinsler back in lineup, per ST:
Ian Kinsler has risen from his sick bed and will be in the lineup today in the season opener. Fewer than two hours ago, he had been scratched with flu-like symptoms that included a high fever. But he took batting practice in the cage in the Rangers' clubhouse and declared himself fit to play.
-- Jeff Wilson
Woo-Hoo!
phew
didnt say anything because i didnt want to even vaguely insult kins, but i thought it was pretty odd that he would miss opening day with a fever unless this was far more serious than most average cold/fever stuff is. a sick kinsler on medication > vazquez.
Hopefully we can get 2 runs in the last couple of innings
I'll say 5-2 Mariners. I don't see any reason why Bedard won't shut us down.
Hopefully I am dead wrong :).
Looks like Adam had a few mishaps.
But now we have 1 game day thread.
I'm ready for some real baseball!
Is it just me
or is MLB.com working like crap today? My connection has been fine as long as I've steered clear of any mlb site. Opening day overload maybe?
i think its worth mentioning
that johan hasnt given up a hit through 3 2/3
obviously not even 4 ip yet.. but hey, its johan in shea vs the marlins on opening day.
that rhymes.
also worth mentioning: mark hendrickson is the marlins opening day starter.
bedard
he had a bad spring and he may be nervous opening day with new team
Ya, it is taped
About 1-1.5 hours before first pitch, IIRC.
...it's the weekend, so why the hell not?
Does anyone else have Direct TV??
I get the game in the MLB game mix...but when I try and go to the channel to have it on the big screen - it says its not purchased?? Anyone else having this problem?? I hoping, it just won't let me watch pregame full screen....
Ya....That's Real Mature.
Are
you an extra innings subscriber? If not then you can't watch the game.
The Texas Rangers rounded the bases at a dizzying pace
It
should work at game time. If not, I would be making a call if I were you.
The Texas Rangers rounded the bases at a dizzying pace
Mine is doing the same thing
I think the Game Mix channel was showing the preview of the game from fox northwest.
Fukudome chants in Chicago
Gagne having trouble finding the strike zone.
" Winning doesn't always mean being first,
winning means you are doing better than you have done before"
Fukudome goes deep
to tie the game
" Winning doesn't always mean being first,
winning means you are doing better than you have done before"
WOW
Gagne just gave up a 3run shot to Fukudome in the bottom of the 9th to tie it up!
Ya....That's Real Mature.
Yay
It's my little girl's first Ranger game. Admittedly, she's only two months old, but it still counts. Hooray for Opening Day!
We need to develop the technology to reanimate the corpse of Kenesaw Mountain Landis and install him as commissioner again. He wouldn't put up with this crap.
Ugh...
why aren't the cameras in widescreen for the HD feed? That better get fixed.
Stars in a Texas Night Sky, a Dallas Stars blog from a fan's perspective.
Yup...
it's very disappointing. I was getting all pumped about watching it in HD tonight.
Stars in a Texas Night Sky, a Dallas Stars blog from a fan's perspective.
Seriously
We get a Rangers game on FSN HD, and they can't even do that right. Today has not been a good day for HD baseball with the Yankees game being cancelled and an SD Tigers-Royals feed being shown on ESPN, and the Cubs game being delayed. Ugh.
Blernsball Fever: Contract it!
Joke...
another reason why FSN is a joke...cant even get Opening day in hd. FSN sucks

Ah, yes...
I'm spending my opening day on hold with MLB.com... already damn tired of this looped piano music.

I'm listening to gameday audio with my MLB.tv subscription
Seems to be working so far... but that's audio, not TV.

No.

Blalock...
looked really patient at the plate there. That's what I like to see out of him.
Stars in a Texas Night Sky, a Dallas Stars blog from a fan's perspective.
Bedard
nice seeing him throw alot of pitches here in the first. Hopefully it doesn't make Millwood too cold sitting on the bench
Would you say his limit..
is at 90-95 pitches? I have no idea how far out he was being stretched during the spring.
Television Broadcast
I have DirecTV, the sports pack with all the FSN channels and I subscribe to the extra innings.
Now, I am getting all the games on the FSN channels which I thought would be blacked out hence purchasing extra innings.
Is it just because it's the start of the year why the FSN channels are showing the games?
Milly is owning right now

I had hoped it'd kick in earlier than a full year into Wash's tenure, but I'll take it.

As I wrote on an earlier reply above
FSN HD will only be for HOME games, not away games. That's how it is for the Mavs games on FSN as well. Sucks, but at least its something.
Yeah but...
usually like Stars games and such, they don't even run the FSN-HD feed and only show it on FSSW.

Is this just a preview as to what's to come in regard to umpire payback for Bradley?
by Randy Richardson on Mar 31, 2008 6:49 PM CDT reply actions
probably
but it will make the umps look really bad. Public opinion was pretty much on Milton's side from the incident last year. If the umps retailiate that obviously all the time, then Milton will go from being one of baseball's bad boys to one of its "chips stacked against him" underdogs...
