I know the title says "Happy Opening Day" but this day is anything but that for me and many Rangers fans around the country. I was just sitting here at work and thinking today Kevin. M goes for us on the mound against Bedard. I was also reading Galloway (love his columns and show) and he pretty much nailed it. This team is bad! Yes their Prospects are among the best in the Minors but let's talk Big leagues for a minute. In the past few years the Rangers have made some HORRIBLE moves. I will list a few and list what could have been. Not everyone will agree..but keep in mind this is my opinion and honestly the opinion of many Ranger fans I know, including the media. This team has traded away A. Gonzalez, J. Danks, Chris Young, and Eddy V. In return for those guys we got what comes down to Brandon McCarthy and Josh Hamilton. Now the jury is still out on Hamilton but he has had a good spring but we'll see when the season starts what happens. McCarthy so far looks like a bust. He has been injured since almost day one, and his body the way it's built seems to be injury prone. With that said our starting five are among the games worst. Let's backtrack and say we didnt trade those pitchers. Our starting five would look like this..
In my opinion thats a good rotation right there and one that would allow this team to compete for an division title. Our batting order would look something along the lines of..
Now granted the OF isn't all that great but keep in mind that in a season or two we have some good minor league talent coming up. so in 2009+ you are looking at a rotation of
and line-up of
CF- whichever prospect is ready first
Yeah I like our chances with the "what could have been" more so than "what is"
