Around SBN: NHL Trade Rumors: Do You Make A Move For Rick Nash?

Damn it feels good to be a Reds fan...

The latest from Dusty Baker:

Dusty Baker wants his hitters to hit. He likes aggressive hitters. He was talking about Joey Votto and finished with this:

"I really, really hate the called third strike. I hate that. You're guess and you ain't ready to hit."

Does the aggressive stuff go for Adam Dunn, too? "Like I said, I don't like called third strikes. Dunn's not a kid. He's not old, but he ain't a kid. I bet you he gets better. He's from Texas, right? There's not a cow in Texas if he don't get better."

"He wants to get better. Barry Bonds he always told me Dunn would be one of the best around. Comes to hitting, Barry's got a pretty good idea."

On Votto: "He needs to swing some more. I talked to him about that. Strikeouts aren't the only criteria. I'd like to see him more aggressive."

"A lot of this on-base percentage is taking away the aggressiveness of some young kids. Most of the time you've got to put handcuffs on a young to keep him from swinging."

Ha Ha...

very true, no crying or walks in baseball GB!
Unless you take away Wash's sunflower seeds then he'll cry you a river.

Aggressiveness
Hey, I got an idea, simple trade:

Adam Dunn and Joey Votto fro Rudy Jaramillo straight up :)

now the Reds have a much more agressive lineup.  We'll even throw in Nelson (slider-speed bat) Cruz for good measure.

Yeah
Baker would have no worries about Nelson Cruz "clogging up the bases".

Mets
Well, the Mets seemed to be in a pretty tight spot with the sudden rash of injuries.  Seeing as how they have an overabundance of vets and the Reds have a lot of "kids", Minaya must wonder what Votto would cost.

Dusty Baker
Worst manager in baseball, bar none.

I am baffled by the fact that this guy is respected in the league.  The path he leaves in his wake is riddled with young arms and ruined hitters.

cant wait for FJM to get ahold of this one
Theory: Jeter wears rings on fielding hand, rendering fielding borderline impossible.

Same thought
But doesn't it figure that the same guys who slags arms compensates by having hitters rip away?

Didn't FJM already do a peice
On comments Dusty made that where similar to this?

FireDustyBaker.com
It is seriously scary to see this level of ignorance and incompetence at such a high level in this league.  I'd boycott the team until the organization cleaned house and got rid of all the front office folks who decided that Dusty Baker as a manger is a good idea.

And yes, FJM has covered Dusty extensively, and he deserves every last bit of ridicule coming his way.

Barry Bonds
Thinks Adam Dunn will be "one of the best around"? Hey, does this mean that Barry was sharing his steroid stash with Dunn?

that thing about called third strikes
people on this board used to say that stuff all the time about brad wilkerson

Here's an interesting thing
Didn't think it deserved it's own diary. But in Jay Jaffe's latest chat he mentions that he did a few of the Team Health Reports that Will Carroll generally does because "Will can't do those specific teams due to his consulting interests".

This includes the Texas Rangers. I wonder what kind of work he's done with the team...

Hmmm. . .
Think Dusty would trade us Dunn for a cow?

I've read evidence that Baker just says this crap to deflect attention from his team. The guys who play for him actually show a good bit of patience.

Still. . . it's crazy.
