Pro golfer charged with "birdie"

It's not funny that the bird died but the scene just sounds funny. I also liked this quote:

"He just kept saying how he didn't think he could have hit it, which I think is a stupid thing for a PGA Tour golfer to say," said Jethro Senger, a sound engineer at the shoot. "He can put a ball in a hole from hundreds of yards away, and here he is hitting line drives at something that's, I don't know, a couple hundred feet away?"

Yeah, pro golfers drain shots from hundreds of yards away all the time....

Nah

Not that funny. I was golfing a couple years ago and hit a crappy worm-burner shot left that hit a red-tailed hawk at the base of a tree about 200 yards out. It limpled away. I felt like absolute shit most of the day and wanted to quit the round but didn't. On the back nine, I'm positive I saw the hawk and it would take off for a little way, land, did that several times, and then finally took off. I felt mildly better.

I've done my share of bird hunting, but wounding or killing an endangered bird with a golf-ball isn't cool even if it's accidental. That golfer's a dick.

Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
