Any Tornados for You Last Night?

The wife and I woke up at 4:00 am sharp here in Richardson to the loudest winds and rain I can remember (with living in Arlington most of my life, there's been some bad bad storms).  I looked out the window and about 4:02 there was a calming, then the sky turned bright, bright blue, then a dark grey, then the freight train sound blasted.   But, alas, I didn't see anything.  There were reports that South Richardson had a touchdown around Belt Line and Plano Rd, but we're up north near Plano.

Just wanted to make sure everyone was alright.  And to see if there were any cool stories for those that live in the area.

I'm in Carrollton

And we got the same deafening sound of wind with the strobe lightning. Was quite discombobulated so I trundled the family into the hall closet just ion case. I've seen tornadoes off in the distance but never heard the "freight train" so I wasn't taking any chances.

There were trees all around my house which were reduced to stumps. The house at the end of my cul de sac had siding piled in their entryway and my trash cans are nowhere to be found. Scary stuff...

I live at Spring Valley & Tollroad

it was kinda crazy, but I sleep through that kinda stuff or it makes me go to sleep - I was in an earthquake on top of a mountain in California 8 years ago, and slept like a baby while others in the dorm were screaming.

anyhow, woke up, drove to work in the morning up at the Tollroad and Tennyson, and the building next to us had a few windows pop out, there's caution tape up everywhere, trees uprooted, and the biggest thing was a Corvette flipped over and a tree fell on it. pretty messed up I'd say, and I don't know how else that would've happened if a tornado didn't touch down briefly...a lady that lives nearby said she was cowering in her bathtub and swears the apartment was almost ripped up from the ground...

I live

in the legacy village area, and our parking garage is right under the building with all the broken windows. It was a bit crazy. The stoplights at Tennyson and the Toll road were twisted around; some were even facing the wrong direction. I usually sleep through storms, but the "freight train" sound going down the street woke me up.

I wish I had one

I went to go find it, think they picked it up before I got there...though I did witness a wreck from the 5th floor due to the incompetence of both repairmen to get to the lights and drivers not understanding how to get through such a situation with blinking lights. I almost got NAILED by a soccer mom on a cell phone in a brand new Range Rover this morning...quite disconcerting. and she had the nerve to flick me off...

Carrollton/Addison

I live right there on the border and our neighborhood looks like a bomb went off. That sound I heard was quite unnerving.

I'm at Beltine and the Tollway

It was really crazy last night. Addison road is covered in insulation from some building...

The street lights at Midway and Frankford are on the ground.

There were repair trucks all over Addison Airport.

Murphy

Lots of rain, high wind, but no damage. Actually the previous night was scarier for us, lots of hail in 3 waves, luckily no real damage as far as I can tell.

no hail.
lots of rain.

city sewer backed up into our house (greywater, thank God).
servicemaster is cleaning our house as i type lol
were renting, so we dont have to pay any of it...but should be getting new flooring throughout our house.

also had a tree less than 10' from my window get struck by lightening and fall on our roof (didnt fall through) but hit hard enough to knock my surroud sound speaker off the wall

sherman got owned last nite, at least my part lol

also heard reports of a tornado touching down near 75 and 82...some ppl are still without power out in that area

carrollton/plano area here

lost power at 3am and it JUST came back. tons of tree limbs in the roads and street lights either twisted around or fallen into the street. gotta give it to plano though, they are doing a good job of repairing signals and directing traffic, carrollton and dallas dont seem to be doing jack

Sounds like there may have been a low-grade tornado or two

on the ground briefly, though I'm willing to bet a lot of this damage is straight-line wind related. It can be awfully hard to differentiate between the two.

Little to report in Tyler, though some huge trees have been uprooted in parts of the city. Very quiet on the south side though, except for the lightning/thunder that promptly woke me up at 7ish.

Galleria & Inwood

Streets were wet. Didn't see any damage around. If there was any sort of bad storm, I must have slept right through it.

Dammit!!!

I live @ Midway & Frankford....my power was just restored about 25 minutes ago. Yep, 12 plus hours w/out freakin power. To make things worse, I work from home. So today was an absolute waste for me.

Haha, Walmart was w/out power all day too. I'll bet they lost at least a mil in revenue.

Now, back to the game.

For true

BTW, according to KRLD, about 115,000 houses or businesses are still without power in DFW. And Oncor retained over 2,000 additional repairmen.

Me too

I'm at Marsh and the Tollway- we didn't get power back until around 4:30. I just got my internet connection back up about an hour ago.
