To allow you all to read my great joke
Millwood will also win the Jenny Craig award. HAHAHA, I'm hilarious.
dammit
how about a heads up on the thread change instead of getting a pop up when I post saying "thread closed"

once a thread gets to about 500 or so posts
things start slowing down... hence the multiple threads
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
after 500 posts
apparently the site comes to a screeching halt. So they cap the theads at 500 posts.
Yawn...
Play the f'ing game.

I know he's good but does the Baltimore broadcast have to do a piece on him to start every half inning?
Kind of

As far as my internet is concerned
Michael Young just reached 3rd on a throwing error. Bah.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia: The Man, the Myth; The Alphabet.

"some garage door in Hurst just flew open"
Made me laugh, anyway...

Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
I can feel he lets it fuel him
to get the most dominant 3 Ks in the history of baseball. Nolan Ryan himself will bow down to its glory.
Shit
only the rangers can play at home and feel like the visiting team, icing our pitcher, just dumb.
the truth.
the on at beltline/preston is closed
the other are open.
These
lights suck.
Hurry up you pieces of trash.
"He throws that curveball so hard and it snaps 12 to six like you've never seen." - Matt Kemp on Clayton Kershaw
why not turn the lights on
and let them warm up while you continue to play the friggin' game? wtf
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
they said earlier
that its some BS rule that they have to have the lights on before the inning starts so no one can cry about some disadvantage.
Nadel
Explains that both teams have to have the same thing.

not listening to the radio
and I got up to take a piss... Sorry to irritate you by a question,
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
for the record
its so that that the rangers dont get any minor advantage by having the lights on and better visibility then the orioles get for the top half of the inning. lights are supposed to be turned on at the top of an inning.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
Markakis
is a beastttt.

ehh
go read the first thread and figure out why that guy may have gotten under mine and a few others skin
oh c'mon
Maybe you shoud go back and read the other thread. I was trying to make a point and did it while politely disagreeing and you seem to have taken it personally. I don't know what your problem is, but you should really get over it.
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
no
we had our discussion then you kept insisting that he was going to make a play 99% of major leaguers can't make. Myself and others were pointing out the mental mistake he made and you kept saying it was the right play.
That wasn't what I was saying
and even if I was and you think I was wrong, it doesn't give you a reason to be an ass. People can disagree on this board without thinking anyone that disagrees with you doesn't deserve your respect.
Disagreements don't equal arguments.. I had my position, you had yours and that was it.
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
Millwood
i don't understand why he wasn't in shape last year, i don't get why Tom and Josh don't address that...
the truth.
there are a lot
of baseball players that choose not to be in shape

why be negative when you can be positive
Its nicer to say that he's in great shape now than talk about how horrible he was last season.

also, if we finish off this game and win tonight, within 1/2 game of first.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
I wish
Benoit could have done that stuff as a starter for us.
That would have been cool.
"He throws that curveball so hard and it snaps 12 to six like you've never seen." - Matt Kemp on Clayton Kershaw
Benoit
Do they ever backtrack, say in a year or two, and give him another shot at starting ya think?
No
We're not that desperate, and he's not that young. I don't know about you, but I like him fine right where he's at.
Bullpen
arms are easy to come by.
Diamond is coming up along with others.
If Benoit could become a Carmona, that would be great.
"He throws that curveball so hard and it snaps 12 to six like you've never seen." - Matt Kemp on Clayton Kershaw
Sorry, gotta disagree here Miles
Bullpen arms are easy to find... but ones as good as Benoit are not.
I just
think we have alot of guys coming up that are bullpen guys.
I still think Kiker is a reliever..

Milly with 5 walks,
thats an ugly stat for him. But he did go 7 innings and is sporting a very good ERA. His first couple of starts show the reason why we signed him. I hope he continues this trend.
Adam loves him some Lard
For all the criticism
of Wash, the Rangers small-balled their way into 2 runs in the 8th to win a low scoring game. Alhough he shouldn't have had Kinsler bunt earlier in the game.
by Randy Richardson on Apr 10, 2008 7:13 PM CDT reply actions
well, it's a little
different. They didn't bunt in the 8th. I just don't see why you have one of your best hitters bunt a guy to 2nd in the 6th inning.
by Randy Richardson on Apr 10, 2008 7:19 PM CDT up reply actions
Agree
The key is Wash doesn't know when to bunt and who to bunt with.
You don't bunt in the 6th inning with a guy who hit 20 homers last year.
situational
Your offense hasn't been swinging the bat very well, its a tie game, your "ace" has pitched very well not only today but the previous 2 games with no wins to show, your bullpen is the supposed strength of the team.
To me at least if it is a 7-7 game or your offense has been hot all year then yeah trust them. But I think he made the right call. If Young or Hammy comes through there we are doing just like we are now saying good call.
I don't think
there is necessarily a correct answer either way on that one, so I guess it's just up to differences in philosophy on Kinsler bunting.

That's too

Come on, we need something to argue about!

OK
this is the 11th time since late 2006 that theRangers have been at .500 playing for a winning record. 0-10 in previous 10 games.
by Randy Richardson on Apr 10, 2008 7:29 PM CDT reply actions
there was a sports column several years ago
that was making sports prediciotns for the year. They joked that "The Rangers shock the sports world by winning their first 81 games. Then they shock them again by losing the last 81 games."
I still remember that line, almost two decades later, when the Rangers go thru weird streaks like this.
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
so
gabbard got out of it (because the O's aren't good) but I would hope that he adjusts and throws a few more strikes early in the count.
also, good for botts making his first good grab. will have to do that a lot today

Just curious
I wonder why Laird played in the first game against a RHP but is sitting tonight against a LHP.

RonWash
said he wanted Laird to work with Milly, 'cause that has been working well.

he's on pace to hit 41 HRs now
won't happen, but hey...
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
Not likely
Didn't Adam (Meno) start out by criticizing MY's bat? Then when it was pretty obvious that MY was going to hit around .300 every year the criticism quickly shifted to MY's defense. I wouldn't expect any apology regarding Young.
I fell for the trick
Then realized I was all alone and I had flashbacks to 8th grade.
And I came back here.

why would the Rangers have not offered Gagne arbitration?
by Randy Richardson on Apr 10, 2008 7:41 PM CDT reply actions
salary
I think there is a rule that the salary can't decrease by more than a certain percentage so that would have been a lot of money to tie up in a rebuilding year.
right . . .
even with the meltdown he had, I think Boston was pretty confident he would get offers and they offered him arbitration in order to get the draft pick.

That was lucky
Marlon still should have retired last year at the peak of his career...
Ya....That's Real Mature.
He did have 19 last year
He had 20 his first couple callups, but then that went to B-Mac, so they gave him 19 last year... and apparently, decided to change it to 29 this year so as not to jinx Botts, I suppose.
And he takes a walk
Not a bad first PA for him this season. 6 pitches and a walk.
BTW, I don't consider that other AB a plate appearance.
good stuff
that will get people's attention. maybe they will bat him ihigher than 8th

Speaking of Swiss Army knives
Isn't it funny that a Swiss army knife has a corkscrew? What type of Army drinks wine enough to put a corkscrew on thier knife?
so
rangers aren't lighting him up or anything but I remember lowen being a bit better. did he lose a lot of velocity

Gabbard's looking great today
I just wish he could throw a few less pitches each inning so he could last longer.
hmm
is going to have to scrape to get 5 inning. but he's not a bad pitcher to have in the rotation.

even if gabbard gives up another 2 runs, the rangers should be able to score more than 1 run against loewen. he's nothign special

But this is the offense that had to scratch out 3 runs against the ancient Steve Trachsel...

Milton Bradley
strikes me as the kind of player that the Rangers will approach after the season about a long-term contract extension, providing he stays reasonably healthy.
I can see that
Bradley likes Washington and vice versa, he's got a lot of talent, and the Rangers could always use another OF.
I really doubt he is gone
after his second season given how this team has played since last June/July.
Can someone
tell me what just happened?
