Mathis and 4/10 Hawks
Watched Doug Mathis toss the ball around last night. He looked solid until giving up a couple dingers in the 6th. His line was 6 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BBs and 4Ks..
I'd like to get some other opinions on him. He looks like he's progressing from last season and could make a decent back of the rotation guy somewhere in the future.
Other random observations. Salty had 4 RBIs and Gold had 3 RBIs and scored 3 times. Mench looks as mobile as a broken refrigerator at first... RedHawks won 11-4.
The Sounds brought in a guy named Luis Pena to pitch the 6th and I have never seen a pitcher look less like he wanted to be on the mound than this guy. He was frustrated from the first pitch and kept shaking his head and peering into the dugout. He went on to pitch a third of an inning giving up 3 hits, 3 walks and 6 earned runs.

I noticed Mench was also 0-5, and his batting about .200
He may not get back to Texas this season after all if that keeps up.

Pena
That's too bad. I think that the Brewers had aspirations of him being a closer or at least setup guy for them. He has a huge fastball, and he's battled back from some serious arm problems.
