Also, Ian Kinsler should have busted his ass

An encouraging thought
I dont know how long we can hover around .500
But if we can stay around .500 with this bad of a team, it bodes well for the future when we can replace most of these DFA scrubs
after cat and byrd
the two guys killing the offense are Young and Hamilton, not exactly DFA scrubs

What a play by Eckstein.
I agree with you on that Adam, Bradley needs to learn to run it out all the time. Maybe we can combine Bradley and Byrd to get one great COF.
That ball
would have been caught 96 percent of the time...
You expect him to fully run that out?
Because I don't blame him for expecting that to be caught.

his leg has been fine
in many other games this season. He's run at full speed without any issues. The tore ACL should not be a reason for him not running at least near full speed.

Running on that play
It's not like he needed to run full speed to get to 2nd. It's also the responsibility of the 1st base coach to get him moving.
Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

But seriously, most players wouldn't have run that out.
"He throws that curveball so hard and it snaps 12 to six like you've never seen." - Matt Kemp on Clayton Kershaw
I guarantee you
Hamilton runs that one out full speed like he did to beat out a sure thing double play. Byrd runs out routine grounders every time he gets your average groundout to the MI. I've never seen Kinsler, Young, Blalock, Laird, or Murphy at least not running near full speed on any play. Bradley does a little jog each time.
Would Soriano? :)

went back and re-watched it
just no. it was a perfect ball to throw, a fastball up in the zone and outside so no swing. theres no catcher in baseball that doesnt get that there on time, thats no accomplishment.
it was a short hop that had young trying to pull the tag back before he had it to try to make an acrobatic tag in time.
all 4 announcers say it was a bad throw. it hopped and was to the right. it was a bad throw.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
it was a bad throw to the wrong side of the bag
no reason MY couldn't have at least stopped the ball.
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
No chance
Young played it to hop straight, which he has done several times or Laird throws. It didn't. It skidded, while Young thought he had the tag again. Sheesh .. there are times Young might come up with it, but not when he's trying to sweep tag.

Its called
a bounce, your star player should easily make that. Young kind of just fell back and got owned.
The throw was close enough to the bag.
"He throws that curveball so hard and it snaps 12 to six like you've never seen." - Matt Kemp on Clayton Kershaw
Young completely missed it
It wasn't a great throw, but most throws to second to try and catch a base runner aren't fully accurate. It was a catchable throw at the very least and if young catches that, he easily gets Wells out.
I don't know he would have caught the runner
but that ball shouldn't have skipped into CF
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
Yep...
Laird needs to stop skipping them in there.

he had 4 boys none of them older than 6 yrs old, and they were a youth group of hellions. Nolan tried to give them some peanuts to chill them out and they started pegging each other, me, and nolan for the next inning and a half.
funniest part, MB is so new and played for so many teams and they were so young they didnt even know what team he played for.

errors
don't we lead baseball in total errors against games played? I thought Washington was a defensive teacher. When is that gonna happen?
yo soy Horsedooty!
I soloed in the mile high club.
Just got home from the game.
We were sitting about 20 rows behind the visitors dugout. Hamilton's shot was probably the most viciously hit homer I've ever seen. He absolutely launched that.
Cat looks bad. You can tell by the way he plays in the field and the general expression on his face that he's hating life right now. It may be time to start giving his AB's to others until he can get his head on straight.
I got my first foul ball tonight. Only took me 35 years. Coats fouled it off in the third. It ricocheted off of some seats in one of the luxury boxes, bounced back and rolled right up the empty aisle to me. A few innings later, I almost got a second foul the same way but the guy sitting two rows behind us was a bit quicker.
Fukumori looks like a bust to me. I know we have a small sample size at the moment, but he looked as bad as he did in Seattle.
They're obviously going to have bad games now and then, so I'm not too disappointed with the loss, but they've got to get better on defense. Murphy cost a run when he played the ball hit into the corner poorly. Cat's error needs no comment. Laird didn't throw well tonight at all. That dribbler up the first baseline that saw Benny and Fukumori staring stupidly at each other while nobody covered first was like something you'd see in a little league game.
Still, as always, the visit to the ballpark was a lot of fun. I'm really looking forward to my sons' first trip there later this year.
