Mendoza up, Guardado to the d.l.
T.R. Sullivan reports that Eddie Guardado has been put on the disabled list to make room for Luis Mendoza on the 25 man roster.
Mendoza starts tonight, and the Rangers are now without a lefty in the bullpen (other than C.J. Wilson).
The Rangers will have to make another room tomorrow to make room for Scott Feldman, and I guess it is possible that, after Feldman makes his start, they could call up A.J. Murray to replace Feldman, to serve as the bullpen lefthander.

You know
What the Rangers should have done was send Kaz Fukumori down today.
He's sucked lately, and quite obviously needs to pitch somewhere where there's at least no percieved pressure - I think sending him down would do him good.
If they did send Fukumori down, it would have given them an extra day to evaluate Guardado/Wright, and decide whether to put them on the DL or option Josh Rupe for Feldman on Sunday.
Its retroactive to april 5th
guardado is only gone for a week and probably legitimately needs it anyway. i think this was the right move to buy time.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
Yeah, true
I admit, I didn't click on the link till after I'd made my comment.
But still, I do think Fuku needs a tuneup. I'd rather see him shipped out than Rupe tomorrow, really.
Murray...
do you think they will give up on him being a starter this early in the year?
I would rather see Murray stay at AAA and start and go without a loogy for a week until Guardado is back.
