individual game predictions
are difficult/futile, but I'm confident this will be a high scoring game. For both teams.
by Randy Richardson on Apr 14, 2008 6:42 PM CDT up reply actions
The Angels blog are doing predictions
on three things for todays game:
1. # of angel pitchers
2. # of angel SB's
3. # of angel GIDP
I predict for the Angels to have:
1. 5 angel pitchers
2. 1 SB (and 1 CS)
3. 3 GIDPs
anyone else wanna take a stab at it?
Ya....That's Real Mature.
I'll pass, but
saw Halos Heaven piece about how the Angels are on pace to shatter the all-time GIDP record.

that post plus your sig makes it look like you're saying white women need days off.
and emphatically so, I might add..

Jennings pitching...
I'm iffy as to whether I want to endure an FSN West telecast with the incomparable Rex Hudler just to watch Jennings pitch.
doesn't Rex do radio now
for the LAngels of LAneheim?
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
Well
at least we avoid Howie Kendrick both these games.
That guy was setting the world on fire before he (surprise, surprise) got injured again.

It might well be
as well. He missed 3 games recently with the hand injury. Maybe he found another way to get himself out of the lineup.
Woo hoo
Game in HD. Okay guys, let's try being only positive today. WE + Positive = Texas Wins.
the truth.
First pitch
an ominous 84 MPH.
Get it goin, Jennings.

it's weird for me to think of the Travs as an Angels team
because they were part of the Cardinals' orginization for so long... I'll never get used to that.
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
I'm back in DFW after living in NW Arkansas for many many years
spent nearly two years outside of Little Rock, though and went to tons of games at the old Ray Winder Field.
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
My roommate thinks Phillip Hughes is awful because of yesterday's start LOL
I think he may have a hard time finding people to agree with him.
and that's the pitch that gets hit
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
You know what sucks about Jennings
That this team will view him as a veteran guy who needs to be given at least a few months. I wish that they would just realize that they need to cut their losses with him and accept that their gamble didn't work.
Ok
So who should be here instead? Hurley isn't ready as he's shown so far, BMac is hurt, who do you want? Ponson, Feldman, who?
Well
Feldman can suck just as well as Jennings.

dude
I'm just as environmentally conscious as anyone and these guys aren't out there everyday catching thousands and thousands of pounds... they are out for two weeks max twice a year and can only catch a certain amount. This isn't like clear-cutting...

I watch it
'cause I went to high school with a guy who was on a boat during the first season... he isn't on the show anymore (and isn't crabbin' anymore) but I got hooked...
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
Jennings
I would rather see Tejeda pitching right now, at least he throws 95 when he misses the strike zone. Maybe it was his incredible game against the red sox last year on opening day that hooked me but would he really be any worse than Jennings is right now?? I mean I know its early but 10.2 IP and 10 ER's and its not like he is throwing well, at least no one can complain about the bad infield defense when he is walking everybody.
Well
That's a good point. I guess they're going on the hope that Jennings can return to a form he previously had, but I might be with you.
by brettgardner on Apr 14, 2008 7:29 PM CDT up reply actions
No doubt he is struggling
But there are no other viable options to replace him with right now. Tejeda is a reliever. The Rangers have determined that and are going to stick to it. Hurley isn't ready. Feldman has made 3 starts as a professional so although he could take his spot its not really feasible. Harrison is still in AA although he is probably ready for AAA. McCarthy is on the DL. I thinik if he continues throwing this way I think there is a strong possibility he gets DFAd once McCarthy comes back but for now we are stuck with him.
I propose
we settle on a stable nickname for Milton Bradley.
Although I hate to recycle nicknames, I think "The Gamer" fits.
I'm using a different game every time he comes through
just for shits and giggles..
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
Stability is overrated
I like WhipSmart's bit with the new board game each time, but I'm sticking with his initials (MOB) because Obelle is a truly blessed middle name, IMO.

The most truthful thing said so far in this era was Blake Beaven "I couldnt do any worse than those guys."

from what i have seen, he is a very average center fielder. his range is average. his arm is above average but not a cannon like josh lewin would have you think. and he has made some bad reads and mistakes playing the ball.
im sorry
but just because he made 2 nice plays in seattle does not mean he has great range. he has great range for a big guy but compared to the average major league center fielder, he does not have great range.
ok chief, here is a list of cfers

ichiro, sizemore, granderson, adam jones, etc?
then you are just plain stupid
Ooh.
A flawless argument if I've ever heard one.
by brettgardner on Apr 14, 2008 8:43 PM CDT up reply actions
are u dumb?
my arguement is that his range isnt that great for a center fielder. so i posted center fielders that have better range than he does.
not sure what's so difficult to understand.
Yes
I r dumb.
You stated your opinion, someone disagreed with you, and you respond with a swift, "You must be dumb". Yeah, you're right--why would I ever question your logic?

feel free
to watch more than 12-13 games before you act like you know what you are talking about.
by that logic
than nobody knows whether hamilton has good or bad range.
btw, you have terrible people on your list. hunter? are you serious?
and even if he falls outside the top 5, those guys are really good. hamilton is also really good. 2 or 3 years ago, the top 5 isn't so hard to crack
scap load or die
Not to mention
if you've seen any of his glovework with the Reds from last year, or even just a couple ridiculous highlights. Or read a scouting report, ever.
Ugh.

Players
Players play defense. Wash doesn't.
OT: Baseball is awesome in HD.
I don't know how we ever survived with low def broadcasts.
Another OT.
Is it just me or does Jennings look like a 15 year old kid that tried on his much larger daddy's baseball uniform?
His looks baggy enough to be out of the 1930's.

Baby face, too?

Well shit.
I hate it when they get into this mode where nothing goes right.
it doesn't last forever, though
just 37 seasons, give or take...
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
Izturis
looks really, really, REALLY happy on his Gameday picture.
There is no such thing as global warming. David Murphy was cold, so he turned the sun up.
Definitely not Jennings
But when you've got a guy tossing BP, it helps to not have your RF doing pirouettes and running past one-hoppers 80 feet in front of the wall.

It's weird.
When he wasn't hitting, at least he was playing good defense. Now he's hitting a little bit and his defense turns to crap.
Snakebit.
When you guys curse before it happens on gameday,
I'm guessing the defense screwed up again or Jennings left a meatball out over the plate.
There is no such thing as global warming. David Murphy was cold, so he turned the sun up.
Sure it was
If he catches the ball that was hit right into his glove, it is as simple as stepping on first base and throwing to second base. A major league first baseman has to make that play 100 percent of the time. What was hard about that play?
it's a play that could have been made -
but not routine. He would have to take a couple of steps forward to give himself a throwing lane and it's a tag play at 2nd.
by Randy Richardson on Apr 14, 2008 8:41 PM CDT up reply actions
that pretty much ends the broadcast for me
i hate it so much can be pinned on one person such that you think that if anybody was out there except him, the rangers woudl be so much better off

Jennings
106 pitches over 4 2/3...great day...
Doh.
Supposed to be a link, but the moment's gone now.

At what point..
do we cut bait with Jennings and call this experiment failed?
Can we let Jason Botts pitch? He might do better than Jennings.

and most of the season...
He hurt his shoulder during that trip on the mound... just a few days after he scored a HR off his head.
That was a weird year.

Scott Sheldon
Didnt he throw an inning in a game not too long ago, im pretty sure I remember him playing all nine positions for one inning each, not sure why but im pretty sure he did
Ah, the old Izturis triple
Oh my God Jason Jennings sucks! Cue the Yakity freaking Sax. Might as well get a laugh out of this. This is just stupid.

who is this Greg Smith guy for the A's who is shutting out the CWS?
Dan Haren Deal
Product of the Dan Haren deal. Came from the D'Backs, seen as a #3 type guy.
Is it just me
Or does the entire team look like they're playing too nonchalantly tonight?
They look flat out demoralized.

the thing is
Jennings is kind of like Padilla was last year
I just don't think the team can stand around all night waiting for a strike or a ball to to be put in play
plus - they're probably depressed they can't hit better against Ervin Santana
i just started back on it
and it's killing my stomach, i take it with skim milk...any ideas why? google is not really helpful on this...

do you take it and...
watch Ranger baseball at the same time?

Nice inning by Littleton.
Why has he not been in the pen all along again?
looking at box score
they are really giving jennings 7 ER's? at least one of those should be unearned
scap load or die
When Guardado comes off the DL,
Littleton should stay and German should be DFA. And I'm not basing it on the last four outs.
