can we expect
bradley in RF any time soon? he seems to be fine, wtith the onyl concern being wear and tear. how long are we going to have to deal with those concerns?

Real or not, it looks ridiculous.

I was wrong about Byrd earlier.
He's not hitting a little bit after all.
ok
with byrd and cat as offensive liabilities, the rangers are going to have problems scoring runs.

Cat
He's been hitting the ball hard of late. I think he'll be okay.
by Adam J. Morris on Apr 14, 2008 9:04 PM CDT up reply actions
you gotta be effing kidding me
how can you possibly say that with a straight face? even if you believed that, you would have to think the same for byrd.
your bias is intolerable sometimes
scap load or die
bah
i don't want to argue this point. all i know is that month of AB's is a good enough sample and that if he's still under .200 after a month, i'll renew my objections. at least byrd can play OF (regardless of what he just did)
scap load or die
not agreeing or disagreeing
but Young had an avg of .192 thru mid-May last season and still had over 200 hits. You can't read a whole lot into the first month, either way...
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
sure
but i don't necessarily like the track record. honestly though, who are they going to bring up to take cat's place? some other guy who can't play defense well? sort of a lost cause. just pointing out that you can't carry two OF's who are below Mendoza AND carry Botts who is basically a backup 1B exclusively.

Just catching up on the comments
Exactly how bad did Jennings suck?
And with the 22nd overall selection the Dallas Cowboys select Jonathan Stewart.
He pitched badly
but the defense didn't help him. Hamilton got a bad jump and let a ball fall in front of him and then threw the ball to the wrong person on a play and let a run score. Byrd let a ball that should have been a single get past him and result in a triple. Broussard turned a double play into only one out.
Even with all that said, he still pitched like absolute garbage.
those miscues lead directly to three runs scoring
even as bad as Jennings was tonite, it's a shame he has all 7 runs hanging around his neck.
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
Jennings sucks so bad that...
he's the worst pitcher on the Rangers' staff

Imagine how much sucking goes on in a gay brothel...
now double that, now double it again, and that's about the level of suckitude by Jason Jennings tonight.

And Littleton needs to hang around awhile.

Jesus Ben!
Nice to see him run out that grounder. When the 1B bobbled the ball, he might have made it if he'd been running.
I don't even know you,
but every time a Rangers player doesn't run out a popup or grounder, I think "Athos is gonna be pissed."
by Randy Richardson on Apr 14, 2008 9:17 PM CDT reply actions
Yep.
I think everybody ought to follow Kirby Puckett's example and run hard on every ball in play. You never know when that's going to be the difference.
Just because they are playing like crap doesn't mean they shouldn't hustle and run each ball out
Maybe if they actually hustled on each play, their luck would change. Just yesterday Blalock decided to go into his homerun trot on his single off the wall. If he runs hard and ends up at second base, maybe the inning turns out different and we win the game.
Man, this pattern with RISP has got to break soon.
Leadoff extra-base hit and we can't get the runner past 3rd. That's getting ridiculous.
Wright?
what was wrong with Littleton?
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
he was at 33

He knew Vladdy was staring at him, and he had to hear Soschia yelling, but he just turned his back on it and ignored it. So many umps wouldn't have done that. Nice to see an ump who doesn't want to make himself a focal point of the game.

Interesting post from sportsline blogger regarding Santana's success
"What do you expect? The Rangers have Marlon Byrd and Franky Cat in the lineup, back to back. Santana should mail Ron Washington a thank-you note after the game. Nothing is like getting a guy to hit into a double play when bases are loaded."

Hank was just barely on top of that pitch

someone told me he shouldn't have been eligible for the post season that first year cause the Angels didn't add him in time or something, but the league just didn't catch it.

I've watched just about every one.
He made two errors in the first series while he had the flu. Since then, he hasn’t made any. His zone rating and range factor are both up from last year so far. Basically you’re propounding a stereotype that isn’t true—or have you just not been watching the games?
Athos
Are you suggesting that Young isn’t a below average SS?
Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Typically,
Athos is suggesting that Young cures cancer, walks on water, and feeds the multitudes with a loaf of bread and a couple of fishes.
"Before I leave, I once again condemn the despicable buffoonery of D.J. Cahill." - Huck
That's all true.
Of course, in spite of his ability to work biblical miracles, he is, at best, an average defensive short stop. But to read the game day threads around here, you’d think he hadn’t made a play all season. I was making the point that his lack of proficiency on defense has been grossly exaggerated so far this season—and I think the numbers (and games) bear that out so far.
