...it's the weekend, so why the hell not?

by Rodney on Apr 14, 2008 9:05 PM CDT up reply actions

He pitched badly

but the defense didn't help him. Hamilton got a bad jump and let a ball fall in front of him and then threw the ball to the wrong person on a play and let a run score. Byrd let a ball that should have been a single get past him and result in a triple. Broussard turned a double play into only one out.

Even with all that said, he still pitched like absolute garbage.

by uthornfan on Apr 14, 2008 9:07 PM CDT up reply actions

those miscues lead directly to three runs scoring

even as bad as Jennings was tonite, it's a shame he has all 7 runs hanging around his neck.

Jesus Ben!

Nice to see him run out that grounder. When the 1B bobbled the ball, he might have made it if he'd been running.

by Athos on Apr 14, 2008 9:15 PM CDT reply actions

Yep

I hate how major league players don't hustle when they believe they are going to be out. You know they hardly ever hustle because the announcers always make a huge deal when someone actually runs hard.

by uthornfan on Apr 14, 2008 9:19 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't even know you,

but every time a Rangers player doesn't run out a popup or grounder, I think "Athos is gonna be pissed."

by Randy Richardson on Apr 14, 2008 9:17 PM CDT reply actions

Yep.

I think everybody ought to follow Kirby Puckett's example and run hard on every ball in play. You never know when that's going to be the difference.

by Athos on Apr 14, 2008 9:18 PM CDT up reply actions

No doubt.

But letting your effort slip is no way to get out of a funk.

by Athos on Apr 14, 2008 9:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Just because they are playing like crap doesn't mean they shouldn't hustle and run each ball out

Maybe if they actually hustled on each play, their luck would change. Just yesterday Blalock decided to go into his homerun trot on his single off the wall. If he runs hard and ends up at second base, maybe the inning turns out different and we win the game.

by uthornfan on Apr 14, 2008 9:24 PM CDT up reply actions

Are you serious? Have you watched a game this year?

There is no such thing as global warming. David Murphy was cold, so he turned the sun up.

I've watched just about every one.

He made two errors in the first series while he had the flu. Since then, he hasn’t made any. His zone rating and range factor are both up from last year so far. Basically you’re propounding a stereotype that isn’t true—or have you just not been watching the games?

Athos

Are you suggesting that Young isn’t a below average SS?

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Typically,

Athos is suggesting that Young cures cancer, walks on water, and feeds the multitudes with a loaf of bread and a couple of fishes.

That's all true.

Of course, in spite of his ability to work biblical miracles, he is, at best, an average defensive short stop. But to read the game day threads around here, you’d think he hadn’t made a play all season. I was making the point that his lack of proficiency on defense has been grossly exaggerated so far this season—and I think the numbers (and games) bear that out so far.

win or lose

I just want 1 well played game

good pitching, good defense, good offense

if it's not good enough, so be it - I just hate watching them give runs away

Post game

Wash said Jennings has "track record" and "we have his back". He sais "he is coming off of an arm injury and still needs time." Then why not let him rehab in the minors after putting him on DL? I don't understand why the rehab time is being served at the ML level.

Did they ask Wash....

Why he came in preaching defense yet we are the absolute worst in the league?

Did they ask Wash....

what he would be doing for a job after the all-star break, seriously we could have Trey Hillman right now. Why would you give Murphy a rest against a right hander who isn't that tough?

Went to the game...

Bought a Milton Bradley shirt jersey

Watched Milton Bradley get a hit

Watched Milton Bradley steal a base.

I guess it's a good thing I've been busy

Doesn't sound like I've missed much this weekend.

Funny....

watching the Mariners and Dickey just pitched in a 5-1 game that they are losing. Mariners annoucers were excited to have him.

Well, this is pretty sad..

We’ll be lucky to win 3 MAX on the road trip, so we limp home at probably 8-15..

That's ballgame for this season, might as well pack away the bats.
Will Washington get the axe?

Hey, it could be worse...
