This is how my luck goes
Yesterday, I didn’t want to watch because Jennings was pitching, but the game was at a time I could watch. Today, I’d like to watch because someone besides Jennings is pitching, and the game comes on at 11 a.m. my time, when I’m at work.

He can hit
4th, because he is a power hitter, he can drive in runs. Or 1st, because he is a natural lead off hitter. He has lots of versatility to the team because he can hit anywhere in the lineup.
He was Victor’s guest on the pregame.

Obviously Wash doesn't want him on the team....
Time for JD to give Wash some orders or let Jason get a shot in another system. Who cares if it turns into a Hafner gaff, having the guy on the team for only keeping the bench warm is ludicrous.

its kind of interesting
2 on, no outs and you’re playing a style that minimizes the number of runs. the way this team is playing, you’re lucky to get 1 run. not sure if cat not bunting would have changed the outcome any but it does drop the chances of a big inning.
i’m still happy wtih a bunt – seems hard enough to get a run, i’ll take them in one run spurts.

A run
Is the most precious thing in baseball
You do whatever it takes to get one across the plate.
by SaltyGoesYard on Apr 15, 2008 2:15 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
1 run
Is = to 3 outs.
If you could get 1 run each inning and just never bat, I would assume you would take that deal every single time.
by SaltyGoesYard on Apr 15, 2008 2:19 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
back to reality though . . .
the Rangers were up 3 and facing a mediocre pitcher – they should be playing for a big inning, not playing for one run.
by Randy Richardson on Apr 15, 2008 2:21 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
To each his own
I just think that anytime you get a chance to score a run, you do everything in your power to try and garuntee atleast getting one run across.

Before
the season started, I thought that last year’s poor start was bad luck and thought that Washington needed another year to judge him by, but with the bad baseball that has been happening lately, we may need a managerial change just to shake the players up. Ha Ha….. Threaten them with bringing Showalter back.

From 1918-48 - the last five which came under Carpenter’s watch - the Phillies had one winning season and never finished higher than fourth place in the NL. En route to a 42-109 finish and a fifth straight 100-loss campaign, second baseman Danny Murtaugh famously remarked, “If the Phillies ever win two games in a row, it would be grounds for a Congressional investigation.”

piss and moan about it.
That’s basically what these game day threads have devolved into—a place where a limited number of users come to piss and whine about how the baseball world is ending in the middle of April. What in the hell did you people expect in a rebuilding year with a team where almost everything has to go right for them to win?

Tough love is where you don’t bail a relative out of jail when they’ve been arrested for the 5th time. You benefit your target by teaching them a valuable lesson.
Bitching is just bitching any way you cut it. Your whining (and everyone else’s) isn’t doing a damned thing for the Rangers (or the rest of us for that matter).

Nobody is bailing anybody out.
Believe it or not, the team’s opinion of itself has absolutely nothing to do with anything you or I say on these boards, so your implication that you not bitching so much means you are endorsing poor results, it wouldn’t matter if that was true.
Game day threads used to be fun, even when the team was losing, because you could talk about baseball without this constant barrage of negativity. Most people that post in the thread now have no interest in discussing the game, but seem to only show up for the purpose of bitching about anything and everything under the sun. If it bothers you that much, go spend your energy on something that won’t put you into a perennial state of despair. We’re only 14 games into the season and that bullshit has already worn this place down. And as a long term follower of this blog, I don’t really relish the idea of spending the next six months with a bunch of pissy johnny-come-lately types that can’t add anything to a discussion beyond constant whining.

Ye,
I don’t care what his name is, he sucks.
And I bet he is jealous of Milton Bradley because he isn’t thug like him.

Mac
put in some good seasons for us at second base, show some respect. The FSN shows are bad in general, that can’t all fall on his shoulders.

I didn't
start watching baseball until like 03 so I have no idea who he is.
FSN is terrible, they have no idea what they are talking about.

Mclemore is a former ranger great
He was on all 3 of our playoff teams and hit 1st or 2nd in the lineup if I remember correctly. Also still a resident of the metroplex.

Welp, I missed the game working again
And again, I’m glad I did.
From the look of things, I guess Millwood and the bullpen imploded in the middle innings, no thanks to the defense again, of course?
