Around SBN: Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire Vow To Fit In With Lin

When does one say enough

I have been a Ranger fan since I was a kid, I am now 35 years old and sick of this crap.  It is sad when March is the highlight of your season.  These last 5 days have been a beating.  I am considering filing for baseball fan free agency.  What is keeping me with this organization.  I know they have a promising farm system, but there is only so much excitement I can muster up about that seeing how this organization has been managed in the past.  It is a beating I tell you.

Go for it

You’ll be sorely missed around here.

After all, you can never have enough whiny, knee-jerking, fair-weather fans.

If you’re actually considering “filing for baseball fan free agency”, then you’re not actually a Rangers fan. So, yah… See ya!

Rangers fans are built to take a beating. We are the unlovable losers of the league and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

what part of

35 years of fandom is fair weather?

by rbarton on Apr 15, 2008 6:30 PM CDT up reply actions

The part where

you consider filing for baseball fan free agency after a five game losing streak early on in a season.

That part.

Were you a fan

during the playoff years? How about in the ALDS in 1996 when we were leading late in game 2, looking like we were heading back to Arlington up 2-0? Were you a fan then?

I bet you were.

And if we were looking like playoff contenders right now, I bet you’d be a fan right now. But we’re not. So you’re taking your sandy vagina and filing it for fan free agency.

Congrats, so long, and may you find only the fairest weather as you and your fickle allegiance travel from team to team trying to find a bandwagon fit to jump on.

yes

way before that too and way after that.

And if that is fair weather, then damn, the freakin Florida Marlins have been living in Hawaii

Why are you still here?

According to this, you should either be here or here.

You threatened to go away earlier when the pain of the loss was still fresh and that feeling of hopelessness was at its apex. Are you having second thoughts now that you’ve had a little while to get over it? Are you a fair weather giver-upper as well?

Gig 'Em Aggies! 2010

At that moment, I wanted to throw my Blackberry out a window. I wanted to shut down this blog, unsubscribe to the NMLR, give away my tickets for this year, and burn all my Rangers gear. I wanted to forget that baseball even existed...And tonight, I'm sitting here thinking to myself, "I hope there's a game tomorrow."

Venting

I may be lambasted for this, but I don’t mind people venting when they are disappointed. Or angry.

Just try to keep in mind that fandom in and of itself is like being married to an unfaithful partner. A team can’t control its’ circumstances, is often tempted to take a wrong path, is sometimes unrewarded even when doing its’ best, yet depends on you for patronage and support.

Like said long ago, it’s baseball. You don’t always get what you want, and you don’t always want what you get.

Priority one: don’t let your ego or sense of self be brought down by the fate of a team you follow, a job you don’t really like, or misdeeds by those you care about.

Dude

If that’s really the way you feel, you do need to take a hike.

Not only from Rangers baseball, but from baseball and sports period. If you can’t handle a losing streak, you shouldn’t be a fan.

How do you think Detroit Tiger fans feel right now? Part of being a real fan of anything or anyone is sticking it out through the tough times.

You say you’ve been a fan for 35 years, but now, with all the talent in the system, and a seemingly halfway smart GM in the office, you’re ready to jump ship because we lost 5 straight games here??

We knew this team would kind of suck at time this season. That doesn’t mean we can’t be dissapointed and bitch about the crappy performances so far (we’re sports fans, that’s what we do) but a 5 game losing streak, at the beginning of a season where the best we expected was a .500 record, isn’t something to start jumping ship over.

tiger fans

can at least remember the good old days.

Ranger fans can remember that one playoff series we lost 3-1, and the other two we lost 3-0

What do you want?

A LSB circle-jerk? Seriously, what were you hoping to get out of a stupid diary like this?

Get over yourself. Nobody cares that you’d rather be a bandwagoner. Good christ man, Cubs fans have waited a century for a ring.

So go be a Yankees fan. Nobody’s going to miss you.

I think the circle jerk is an urban legend. No way anyone has every done that.

Being a Rangers fan is like having a 36 year old retarded son. It would be best if you don't have depressive or substance abuse tendencies otherwise you'd better find another team.

What did you expect this year?

I’m as frustrated as anyone when the Rangers lose. Then a hour later I relax, think about it, look at the roster again, and realize that this was going to be a tough year.

I for one will NEVER stop being a Rangers fan. It’s in my blood. I don’t care how bad they suck. I will always be there to see it. And when they do finally win, and they will, I will be there to enjoy it.

Baseball

used to be my favorite sports. Over the years, mainly after Cuban took over the team, I think I fell in love with basketball even more. Now, with the continued failure of the Rangers, I even look forward to football season more than baseball season. It really sucks being a Rangers’ fan.

How

Hard is it to be a fan of a winner? Anybody can do that. If you’re a fan of a team, you’re a fan, and you don’t “file for fan free-agency” because they suck for 10 years.
