You guys have been called out

Our friend at the DMN blog has called you guys out, in a post that starts of thusly:

Dear Lone Star Ball baseball nerds,

The reason I say that it is you guys, and not me, is that no one would call me a nerd.  So it must be the rest of you.

Hey Poochie

I am NOT a nerd. I am an idiot. Just ask Bob Costas.

I don't want to play golf. When I hit a ball, I want someone else to go chase it. ~Rogers Hornsby

Not me!
Couldn't be!

ha

I kind of respect that actually. This is a pretty serious collection of nerds.

I'm really surprised EG predicted the Mariners to win the WS. Their rotation and bullpen are very good, but their offense looks bad. Aside from Ichiro, who is pretty amazing, the rest of their lineup is average, at best.

But that river of tears has dried for all of us.

by trza on Apr 2, 2008 10:04 AM CDT reply actions

that offense is shit

not saying ours has proven anything, but on paper I'd take the M's over us for only two reasons: lack of health to our starters and a significant step down from Putz to CJ. So if our starters stay healthy, and CJ proves he can handle a full year of closing like he did for most of his debut last year in the closing role, I take us ON PAPER. Now - that said, we have a LOT of work to do on defense and in the lower leg of the lineup offensively - hopefully once this flu is gone and we reach better weather, we start to show how complete of a team Ron W. has put together...

I love when one "blogger" calls other "bloggers" nerds.

Isn't that the equivalent of Michael Young calling Derek Jeter a bad defender?

Well put but...

ummmm, excuse me?

"He'll be better next time he gets the ball"

Ron Washington says after Fukumori gives up 2 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 walks and a couple of wild pitches in a third of an inning.

Well that's comforting!

What really annoys me about him

is his phrase, "the great Evan Grant" I know that stems from an argument he had with Grant last year, but dear god, get over it. What a joke.

I dont watch baseball

I just read stats. It's far more entertaining. I'm printing off my BP Player pages when I go to the ballpark 15 times this year. That will be more exciting.

And with the 22nd overall selection the Dallas Cowboys select Jonathan Stewart.

The funny thing is that the

vast majority of M's bloggers still think the Angel's are AL West favorites.

Wow!

He's a totally outrageous new paradigm!

I think it's hilarious that the nickname Poochie caught on to the point that he's now aware of it. It really is the perfect nickname for him considering his brand of "oh-my-god-look-at-me-I'm-so-in-your-face" shtick. You've heard the expression, "Let's get busy"? Well, MacMahon gets biz-zay. Consistently, and thoroughly.

Dear Tim,

I wonder why bloggers get a bad rap from print journalism? That post was really professional. I can see how this belongs a Dallas newspaper's website.

---

All I can say is...

You mess with the bull, you get the horns.

Also isnt it sad that this is your job, yet Adam Morris is twice the writer, blogger, analyst about the rangers that you are, and that is just his HOBBY.

Now that stings.

Its ok Tim, just because that site kicks this sites butt doesn't mean you have to refer to name calling. I mean with all the great features this site holds, like the CAPTCHA code that makes you take 5 minutes to post something, the lack of updates to the blog, the moderation where posts get "held for owners approval", etc. I can see why you would be jealous of LSB.

LOL

I loved the "nerds living in mama's basement" comments. I'm curious as to how many of the regular posters here actually live with their parents. I'm betting it's a pretty small number, especially if you don't count people like miles, who are under 18, and therefore have a very legitimate excuse for still living at home.

Speaking for myself, I am definitely a geek, nerd, or whatever you choose to call an over-educated person with spotty social skills, but I haven't lived with my parents since 1992, which was the summer after I graduated college.

I guess whatever makes people feel better about themselves and their inability to have an intellectual discussion...

keep saying that Adam and Tim are really friends and they are causing this controversy on purpose. Is there something you'd like to tell us, Adam?

by ab03 on Apr 2, 2008 3:46 PM CDT reply actions

No

I've never met him. He's emailed me before, and was very cordial (probably more than I deserved, given the way I'd been ripping him). But that's the extent of our interactions.

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 2, 2008 4:41 PM CDT up reply actions

I've exchanged emails with him quite a few times.

Nice guy. It's his job to make that those blogs active and he does a very good job of it. People who take him seriously and think he's some old curmudgeon are misguided.

by Wes Cox on Apr 2, 2008 4:48 PM CDT up reply actions

he's like a young curmudgeon right?"

I don't mind him so much and I wouldn't mind that he's uninformed but he's unabashedly uninformed and he takes offense to people who correct him. perfectly straddles the line between blogger and journalist - gives opinions and news on the rangers but isn't beholden to facts.

and anybody who acts like that but excuses himself as an act gets a check minus.

by ab03 on Apr 2, 2008 8:10 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe he got kicked out of the Mav's locker room...
