Sunday morning things
Another crappy game last night, one that was very winnable, and that the Rangers should have won.
Evan Grant says that the bottom line is, the Rangers didn't execute, and the BoSox did.
Ron Washington says Jason Botts played first base because he's been swinging the bat well, and he's not considering a platoon with Botts and Broussard.

Broussard..
shot himself in the foot the other night when he came in as a “defensive replacement” and proceded to blow a play.
I’d do the same thing.
That lineup
will go down as the jump the shark moment for Wash. I’m usually one that counsels patience and seeing what he does in his 2nd year now that he’s had a chance to grow into the job…no more.
Now I just hope he’s gone before they start bringing up all the precious young talent that needs to be groomed so carefully.
Whatever gets you through the night, 'salright, 'salright.
Something positive
Jennings pitched better and Duran carried himself well.

From TR: JD quote
The Oracle of Elysian Fields:J.D. is going to try to jump a shark over a tank full of Arthur Fonzarellis.
“I’ll take the over.”
General manager Jon Daniels scoffing at a national commentator’s suggestion that manager Ron Washington was on the hot seat and might not make it until May.
shroom...
Are you anti-JD? How far gone are you on the guy?

I think
that I’m a tad more skeptical than most here, but I find it hard to remove my backing because he appears to be following my desire to create and maintain a monster talent pipeline in the minors. He gives me the heebie jeebies, though.
I couldnt agree more,
When this talent does arrive, and if wash is still here, he better not fuck it up. He, to me, is already on thin ice. He needs to start showing imrpovement through his defensive skills. He needs to start grooming these players into defensive wizards. That was once his strong point.

Laird and Byrd
have looked completely lost at the plate, you can see it in their eyes.
I can’t believe I am saying this, but maybe it is time to DL Laird with some type of mysterious illness and bring up Salty for some offense and flexibility.
Botts...
if he’s not considering a platoon then just cut BB now. Until then I still see Wash giving BB some AB’s against righties.
Very good sign though, let’s just keep hoping that Botts continues to produce at the plate. I still think he has a chance to be a good ML hitter.

Botts
System-wide, the storyline I hope for most this year is Botts sticking with the ML club.
I look at the guy and think, not only do you not need to worry about him mentally, you can actually attribute his whole game to the good head on his shoulders. I hope he gets a legitimate shot.

Porcello
I don’t know why.
20.0 IP
13 H
3 ER
5 BB / 16 K
1.35 ERA
He had his longest outing out of 4 total yesterday, 6 IP (2 ER on 4 H, 1 BB/4 K).

Here's to hoping Botts is used at first over B.B.
and when Davis is ready to come up Botts could be the DH with the potential to give Davis a night off when needed. Wash really needs to think about that.
