Is Ron Washington's Job in Scott Feldman's Hands?
The Rangers have lost 6 in a row, the last two in disgusting fashion. They have been poor in every phase of the game over the course of the losing streak, especially in the field. Per Rosenthal, Tom Hicks has said he wanted to see improvement on this road trip, but I think a 1-8 record is probably not what he had in mind. My question is, and there is a poll attached, do you think Wash is managing for his job today? Is this a must win?
Also, did anybody read Grant's blog post about Wash as a person? I had suspected he was a good guy, which makes my desire to see him fired sting a bit more, but I still want him gone, as I have since 2 weeks into last season. I think he is a good guy and a very good coach, but not a manager.

I'm not so sure
Because according to this TR Sullivan piece, JD and Nolan have decided just to kick back, and watch the team fall apart around them:
Ryan understands what the Rangers’ problems are, but is not ready for draconian measures, whether it be staff or players. The biggest concern the Rangers have is how poor play will impact attendance. The Rangers don’t want to convey the impression of indifference, but they also have to guard against any perceived impressions that they are giving up on the season. Those executive decisions are made in July, not in April.
Yep, that sounds like the Texas Rangers front office, all right. Looks like it’s gonna be a long first half, full of fucked-up baseball, folks.

I can’t quite say i disagree with what was said there. It’s way too early to say the season is lost and give up, even if it may be true.

F*&k Attendance
The last thing I want my front office to be worrying about right now is freakin’ attendance! Worry about getting a freakin’ out and getting some wins. This crap is everyone’s fault and the fans cannot be expected to show up.

I agree
Making personnel decisions based on impatience and attendance has caused this organization a lot of problems over the years.

which makes
the comments of Ryan and Daniels the last couple days a bit reassuring. The last thing the team needs is for them to get in a headhunting mood like so many fans are now.
...and curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.
Is Hicks still
in Europe? We’ll see what happens when the Stars get bounced from the playoffs and Hicks turns his attention to the Rangers.
