OT Liariano gets sent to AAA
Man is his career going downhill. I’m not gonna say its over, but the Twins better give him some time in the minors instead of rushing him back.
Huh?
He’s recovering from TJ, obviously he needs some more time in the minors to rehab. But his career isn’t “going downhill” at all.
+1
If you think his career is going to be over than you are crazy. He needs to pitch in the minors for a while to get his confidence back.
what I was trying to say was
that although i will acknowledge that he is recovering from tj surgery, if the Twins rush him back again like they just did, he might just head downhill.
Welp
Is this the first game where we begin to see what we got? If it is, I’m cool with it win or lose. I’m not saying bring up Max Ramirez, but just make a commitment.
What happened to my old signature?
Where
is the lineup? It looks like the weather is about to get ugly out here in Texarkana
The Texas Rangers rounded the bases at a dizzying pace
1. I Kinsler, 2b
2. M Young, SS
3. J Hamilton, CF
4. H Blalock, 3B
5. J Botts, DH
6. F Catalanotto, LF
7. D Murphy, RF
8. G Laird, C
9. B Broussard, 1B
Bet he plays tommorrow
And with the 22nd overall selection the Dallas Cowboys select Jonathan Stewart.

This string bad games. Hopefully they turn it around tonight.
And with the 22nd overall selection the Dallas Cowboys select Jonathan Stewart.

since you didn’t watch, I say the games didn’t really count!

Question
Let’s say Saltalamacchia is the starter for the rest of the season.
What do you think he’d put up, in terms of AVG/OBP/SLG
by Adam J. Morris on Apr 25, 2008 6:42 PM CDT up reply actions
A lot better than your boy Gerry, that's for sure
Probably about .276/.360/.490.
Did we do a Salty predictions diary in the community projections? Maybe I could go dig up my old prediction…
Really?
That seems pretty aggressive.

Seriously, though
He’s the future of this team. We just called him up – he should be playing tonight. It’s time for Lardcheeks to start riding the bench.
Oh, and he hasn't played in three consecutive days in AAA
That’s further reason for him to be playing tonight. You don’t want him to get too cold (and it might already be too late for that).
Just got a call from JD
he said that he called up Salt for you to quit your bitching. Now, that the bitching has not ceased, he will be on a charter to OKC first thing tomorrow.
OT: Josh Howard
I turned on the TV to catch the pre-game and apparently Josh admitted to smoking pot in the offseason the Michael Irvin Show today. Is he stupid? Why the hell did this come up and why did he admit to it? Does anyone know how the conversation went?
And with the 22nd overall selection the Dallas Cowboys select Jonathan Stewart.
Old news
Posted this in another thread:
The list of NBA players who have been charged with marijuana possession in recent years includes Philadelphia’s Allen Iverson, Sacramento’s Chris Webber and Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. But even so, the National Basketball Players’ Association (NBPA) – the players’ union – fought vigorously to restrict testing and to protect the rights and privacy of players.

Thanks
I haven’t been keeping my ear to the ground on most NBA news, much less this. Makes sense, Irvin posed him a question and answered honestly. Still, pretty poor timing.
And with the 22nd overall selection the Dallas Cowboys select Jonathan Stewart.
Howard
I read a story the other day where he admitted to the marijuana use.
Honestly, if an athlete is going to use drugs, I have a lot less problems with pot than any of the others. It’s hardly performance-enhancing, and considering the beating most athletes’ bodies take over the years, pot probably helps with all the sore muscles.
Hell, Mark Stepnoski smoked weed during the off-season throughout his NFL career, and it didn’t seem to hurt him too much.

I think he's referring to the fact that Kinsler
Has maintained his streak of reaching base safely in all 22 games so far this season.

actually,
I agree that he won’t get 200 hits this year, not due to lack of hitting, but because he’s taking more walks.

seriously, I want to know why you think the remote possibility of pinch hitters/pitchers getting a few at bats in an unlikely injury case is in anyway meaningful next to playing time for a top prospect in a lost season.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
get out the highlight reel
nice catch
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
This Gomez kid is a showoff
Unfortunately, he’s a very talented showoff. I got a feeling not much is gonna get by this kid in CF tonight, or the next two days.
which is.. terrible?
thats not that bad for a defensive minded player. its better than MY and kinsler are doing.
silly rusty greer comparisons aside, i dont think anyone here thinks he is a .900 ops all star.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
so what?
i dont know what your point is. David murphy having a .775 ops in late april is hardly a crushing blow to people who say he is more than a 4th outfielder.
id say a .775 ops and above average defense is better than a 4th of..
3 1/2.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
My point is that...
...he has a 778 OPS.
Sorry. I’ll keep my comments to myself from now on.

Rare Gnats Sex
excuse me, sir
but seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn’t we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? ‘Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we’d all be put out in K.P.
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.

He’s fast… but can he jump over cars?

If we lose tonight
Is there any doubt its going to be 9 losses in a row after tomorrow?

Come one
That wasn’t Wally’s fault, you gotta be agressive when you’re trying to snap a losing streak.
You’ve gotten 7 hits in a row to tie up the game, no one is out, you’d have guys at 2nd and 3rd with no one out…
And that’s a situation to be aggressive, because you are trying to snap a losing streak? It wouldn’t have been okay to send him if they’d won a couple in a row?
by Adam J. Morris on Apr 25, 2008 8:19 PM CDT up reply actions
Most guys score from second on that ball
I think sending him was the right call, irregardless of the losing streak or not.
just a question?
How come you rip Wash for any call he makes, but here you’re defending Walbeck for something that I guarentee you he would admit was a mistake?
by Randy Richardson on Apr 25, 2008 8:23 PM CDT up reply actions
I'm not defending Walbeck because he's Walbeck
I’m defending him because I agree with the call. It wasn’t a stupid move, it was a risky one and Blalock was actually safe. There is a difference.
OK, since you admit it was risky . . .
why take that risk with: 1. no outs, 2. a slow baserunner, 3. a struggling pitcher?
by Randy Richardson on Apr 25, 2008 8:27 PM CDT up reply actions
Because this team sucks at hitting with RISP
The way they’ve hit in the clutch, I would want to get that run home if I could.
that's the same bad reason that
Wash is overusing the sac bunt.
by Randy Richardson on Apr 25, 2008 8:30 PM CDT up reply actions
A sac bunt just moves runners into scoring position
You can’t compare that to sending a guy to the plate from second base on what should have been an RBI double.
well, Walbeck
needs should know that Blalock is a slow baserunner
by Randy Richardson on Apr 25, 2008 8:17 PM CDT up reply actions
agree
overly aggressive baserunning with a pitcher on the ropes
by Randy Richardson on Apr 25, 2008 8:16 PM CDT up reply actions
same thought had crossed my mind...
but he must’ve thought Blalock had it beat by a step… Hank was safe according to the replay…
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
what
I thought you just said Blalock was safe a minute ago? Anyway, Blalock was there ahead of the throw and only out because he was blocked off the plate. Besides, your still in the inning even with that out if Botts doesn’t run. I couldn’t see if Walbeck was waving Botts to third.
by Brandon Wilson on Apr 25, 2008 8:20 PM CDT up reply actions
He was safe
But I think that, in that situation, if you think it is going to be close, don’t send him.
