Saturday morning stuff
Rangers win, Mavs win, Stars win...it was a good night last night. Even if the Rangers win was still a little bit...disjointed.
Richard Durrett says the game was preceded by a players-only meeting, with the emphasis on forgetting what had happened in the first 23 games and starting fresh. Durrett also says Sidney Ponson is getting the start today. Adam Melhuse was released to make room for Ponson.
Of course, the big story is The Meeting yesterday, and Ron Washington's future. Evan Grant has a story up about that, with some quotes from Jon Daniels, and in which he looks at the organizational dynamics that could impact whatever the decision ends up being. Jeff Wilson has a similar story up, noting that Daniels was non-committal when asked if Washington's job is in danger.

Players-only meetings
It seems we had one every week last season. Is this really the first of this season? What do you say? If you’re honest I guess you say “How do we get better players in here to play with us….uh sorry Marlon, Jason, Ben…no offense”

I think there's been one before this.
not sure though.
With all the talk about how management is in jeopardy, I’m sure they had a lot to talk about.

This was supposedly...
...the first of the season…

You would know...
so fair enough, I just felt like there was something before this.

There was a team meeting
but it was not players only.
...and curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.
It is mentioned in the Durrent article linked
That this was the first players-only meeting of the season.

The bullpen was great last night -
four innings of scoreless relief without a Twin even getting to 2nd base.

Things could get ugly...
here if Salty isn’t starting tonight, RHP on the mound for the Twins, and I think he has had the last 4 days off. Hopefully Board Game will be able to DH tonight as well because that leaves Botts as your cleanup guy with Hank out if Bradley can’t go.

Yep
And Young will bat third, and Cat 2nd. Salty should hit 5th in a lineup without Blalock and Bradley.
Catching
So Salty is now up for good, right?
How are they gonna handle PT between the two?
If they brought up Salty just to sit behind Laird I’m gonna stab somebody.

Supposedly...
...Saltalamacchia is going to get the bulk of the p.t.

Screw him
trade him if you can, if you can’t, tell him he has done a tremendous job in the majors looking like a backup at best.

OMTT...
I’ll give him credit for being able to bunt and having a above average arm.

Attendence Dip
Beginning:
Crowd (foul): An announced 19,016 watched Friday. Only two home games in 2007 had fewer. Both were weekday games against the Royals in September, with Texas in last place.
...it's the weekend, so why the hell not?
Hopefully that continues

At this point
JD needs to announce the rebuilding. Because he’ll actually sell more tickets in the second half if he shows some progress here in the first.
