That is good news.

Good news.

I agree…

Although if Cuban fires him, he still has to pay him 12 million for next year.

Except...

What will happen when we reach the finals? Will he still be fired?

I don't think it will matter

Man...

Just imagine the fit that Kevin Blackistone will throw if both Avery and Wash are fired at about the same time.

Things like...

Ugh

Barea in, Stackhouse air ball. Bad karma all over the place early in the season with the crap subs in.

Barea: 1:37 of PT, no stats, but -7 on the +/. Nice contribution buddy.

by zywica on Apr 27, 2008 10:29 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

A better question...

Why the fuck is Stackhouse in the game who is shooting about 15 percent in this series?

Lue is injured, thats why Barea is in. He is the backup.

And the secret sources in Cincinnati get the last laugh....

by miles on Apr 27, 2008 9:22 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I'm fine with Stack

So long as he’s not running the offense. When I see Stack dribbling down the court, the first thing that goes through my mind is: “Does he think noone will ever steal the ball from him ever?”

The dude dribbles like he’s the only one on the court.

by LiamP on Apr 27, 2008 9:31 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

+1

Julian Wright did him again.

Stack looks dreadful out there, hammy or not.

This team has no bench

John Hollinger on the Mavs:

Hey, remember when Dallas had a bench?

One side issue with the Kidd trade is that they also dealt DeSagana Diop, and the Mavs are now down to seven useful players. Fading vets like Malik Allen, Eddie Jones and Devean George are giving them nothing, and the Mavs seriously need to rethink their obsession with 34-year-old veteran role players this offseason.

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 27, 2008 9:27 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Boy

Those arguments sound familiar.

by zywica on Apr 27, 2008 9:27 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Also, who is their 7th useful player?

I count six at most:

Kidd
Terry
Howard
Dirk
Bass
Dampier

Does he think that George is a useful player or something?

by zywica on Apr 27, 2008 9:29 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Lue

But he is

injured, we don’t use him right though…

And the secret sources in Cincinnati get the last laugh....

by miles on Apr 27, 2008 9:33 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Well

He is useful, but only when he’s perfectly healthy and in rhythm, and that only happens for a stretch or two a season now.

by zywica on Apr 27, 2008 9:38 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

And fwiw...

...the departure of Avery will probably eliminate the Mavs’ love affair with 34 year old role players.

He’s the one who seems to feel the solution to every problem is to bring in an old guy who knows how to win.

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 27, 2008 9:34 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yep

The situation may be unsalvageable but at least the scouting department won’t be locked in the basement any longer.

by zywica on Apr 27, 2008 9:37 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

But no

A discussion question

What team does Josh Howard get dealt to, and who do the Mavs get back?

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 27, 2008 9:40 PM CDT   0 recs

They wouldn't

do that…

And the secret sources in Cincinnati get the last laugh....

by miles on Apr 27, 2008 9:41 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Trade him

to the Heat for Marion sign and trade.

And the secret sources in Cincinnati get the last laugh....

Marion wouldn't do that, I don't think

He’s not going to want to go somewhere and be 2nd banana.

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 27, 2008 9:42 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

He loves

playing with Jason Kidd, he thrived when he did earlier in his career. He would do alot better than Howard with Kidd.

And the secret sources in Cincinnati get the last laugh....

by miles on Apr 27, 2008 9:44 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

He'd also be coming to a team...

...where he’d be the #3 guy, behind the PG and the PF. That’s what caused the problems in Phoenix.

I think that’s unlikely. Also, I think you’d have a hard time making the salaries match up. You’d have to convince the Heat to take Stackhouse as part of the deal, which I don’t think they’d want to do.

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 27, 2008 9:46 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

he'd be the number 2 guy here

and i don’t think Phx wanted to max him out…

just got ownaged

by Longhorn on Apr 27, 2008 9:50 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

The #2 guy?

Dirk and Kidd are still going to be the big names here. He didn’t like being second fiddle behind Nash and Stoudamire, he isn’t going to want to be second fiddle to Dirk and/or Kidd here.

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 27, 2008 9:51 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

okay

you’re going to have to define what a #2 guy is then…

Kidd is going to get him involved, Kidd can’t shoot like Nash. Seems to me Marion will be the number 2 guy scoring wise..

Are you saying he won’t come here because he wants to be the biggest name on a team?

just got ownaged

by Longhorn on Apr 27, 2008 9:57 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

x
Are you saying he won’t come here because he wants to be the biggest name on a team?

Pretty much. McCallum’s book indicated he wasn’t happy about that in Phoenix, and he supposedly was dealt this season in large part because he was such a big pain in the ass about the issue.

And regardless, I don’t know that Miami would do Howard and Stack for Marion. There’s not really any other way to do the deal, and nothing the Mavs can throw in the sweeten the pot.

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 27, 2008 10:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Interesting

I coulda sworn he wanted to go play with Kobe. But if a player wants to go to a place where he is the biggest name on the team, well, that’s his problem…let him go try to find that situation.

by Longhorn on Apr 27, 2008 10:03 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Stack's

contract expires next year I think, so that might not be all that bad.

If Marion thinks he has a chance to win, wouldn’t he sacrafise being the guy?
