Minors 4/29
Blake Beavan made his debut tonight and a very good debut at that. 6 IP 3H 3K 0BB. You can't ask much more out of a 1st rounder. Frisco's offense is amazing, with 6 guys hitting above 300 with Gentry at 291. Ben Harrison has three hits again. Hunter and Hurley both pitch late games tonight.
Oh the incredible powers of the word limit. By the way, this town is now a hockey town until august and september, probably until july with mini and training camp for the cowboys.

That is great to see
I just got my Lucas report about Blake Beavan. I hope this is a start of something very good along with Main and Neil Ramirez.

Unfortunately...
...the Clinton announcer isn’t big on describing pitches, so I don’t have a good feel for Beavan’s pitch selection. Also, Great Lakes has a really terrible offense, but it’s still a great debut.
I like Ramirez a lot...
at least from the video I’ve seen on him. Ball jumps out of hand, really gets on hitters quick. His mechanics look kinda risky, but nothing that can’t be cleaned up.

Nice start!
Harrison is 4/4 so far tonight with 2 2B leading off for Frisco.
...and curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.
JMJ
Junior Mayberry gets the call up to OKC to fill in for Brandon Boggs. So far so good as he’s 1-1 and Boggs is 2-2.
baseBALLIN!
Freakin' rag-arm Whittleman threw a ball away in the 9th
costing Hunter a shot at the CG shutout. Whit ticks me off.

Quality Start
6IP 5H (all singles) 3R 3ER 4BB 5K’s
Leads AAA in strikeouts.
The runs he gave up were very weird.
1st run was a sac fly.
The other two were with bases loaded and two outs a fisted, looping single over the out stretched hands of the first baseman scored two runs.
Threw very well. HIs last three outings have been VERY promising.
With Jennings all but out, do you give him his chance now? Not sure if it’s such a bad idea.
Hurley
is Rick Helling. He’ll likely be a 200 inning 4.50-4.75 ERA guy in his prime, solid, dependable, valuable. Some are going to be disappointed if they expect him to be an 18-game winning, 3.00 ERA monster.
...and curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.
I see him as more than that
a 4.00-4.50 kind of guy who will have a couple of sub-4 ERA seasons sprinkled randomly throughout his career.
Basically Kevin Millwood if Millwood had spent his formative years pitching in a pitchers park in the AL.

It's just impossible to look intimidating
in those goofy minor league uniforms… no matter how wonderful you are.
