he had a quality hit today

it just found a glove. he looked totally lost against LHP though, we're gonna need some1 who can come of the bench and pound lefties

BenBrus hits righties Ok though

no clue why theyd have put a righty in instead of a lefty, but hey thats not my team.

adam

not trying to be a dick but legit question: would you have pinch hit laird there? I'd be worried about no backup catcher but that was a really really big spot and laird is what he is so far.

by ab03 on Apr 2, 2008 11:10 PM CDT reply actions

man

young please get on base in front of hamilton. I would just like to give him a chance for an RBI. actually, I just want to see him period

by ab03 on Apr 2, 2008 11:11 PM CDT reply actions

Well, he was 3-3 opening day

And then he caught this flu bug. Not making excuses, but he has at least had one decent game so far.

the wrong Dallas team won tonight.

as a die hard Golden State fan this was a really huge loss for the team.

x

This was just the third time all year the W's have lost two consecutive games.

Spirits are low in Warriors-land. We don't have any tie breakers with anyone, our bench has been awful this year and fatigue to the Big Three is a huge concern. We don't have the same vibes as a year ago :(

No

Just a lameass bottom of the order. Murphy is the only guy worth a crap beyond the #5 slot.

Like the new sig, BTW.

by LSJ on Apr 2, 2008 11:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Meh

Broussard is a decent player, if he's platooned. So is Cat most days. If we somehow get 2006 Laird, that'd be a huge deal for the offense.

The biggest hole the first three games was at SS, offensively and defensively. I wish Frisco streamed their games too.

by FirebatM3 on Apr 2, 2008 11:37 PM CDT up reply actions

oh thanks Jonny...

I'm with you on Laird especially, that boy kills more rallies.

I know right...

getting tired? i been pissed ever since they announced his signing.

.500 or bust!

by Jayslick on Apr 2, 2008 11:38 PM CDT up reply actions

It's been two games

don't you think you're just jumping the gun a little?

by FirebatM3 on Apr 2, 2008 11:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Meh

he was pretty good post-injury last year. It's been three games and he's been effective. If he's a .290-.300 hitter at the deadline, I'm sure it'll be worth it.

by FirebatM3 on Apr 2, 2008 11:42 PM CDT up reply actions

I'd put Cat

in the 9 spot, like a second leadoff hitter

by Randy Richardson on Apr 2, 2008 11:39 PM CDT up reply actions

+1

At least Broussard can hit a homer every now and then.

by LSJ on Apr 2, 2008 11:40 PM CDT up reply actions

That and

it'd give Broussard and Kinsler/Young more RBI opportunities. The more I think about it, the more it probably makes sense until Cat has shown you that he needs to be moved up.

by FirebatM3 on Apr 2, 2008 11:41 PM CDT up reply actions

That'd be a pretty good idea

actually, since I think Broussard/Botts platoon would be more effective in the 5 spot.

Ideally, our lineup looks like

Kinsler
Young
Hamilton
Bradley
Blalock
Broussard/Botts
Salty
Murphy
Cat

That'd be pretty effective.

by FirebatM3 on Apr 2, 2008 11:40 PM CDT up reply actions

I still think

you trade cat for a bucket of chicken if the season gets out of hand. im still surprised they didnt last season except he was so hurt the whole season

.500 or bust!

by Jayslick on Apr 2, 2008 11:43 PM CDT up reply actions

Concur

but lose Broussard altogether.

by slc ranger on Apr 2, 2008 11:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Broussard

at this point, he's a better player vs. RHP than any of our other options.

by FirebatM3 on Apr 2, 2008 11:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Would rather see...

Botts get consistent AB's from both sides of the plate.

I know BB could be a decent platoon guy against RHP, but I just don't see the point in it. He doesn't factor into the future of this team. I know I'm in the minority here, but I still think Botts has a shot to hit ML pitching given the chance. Just my opinion.

"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."-Socrates

by slc ranger on Apr 2, 2008 11:54 PM CDT up reply actions

The point is

if he performs well, you can get something for him. Like Absdrubal Cabrera. I'm not sure Botts' relative upside at this point is worth that.

by FirebatM3 on Apr 2, 2008 11:57 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah im agreeing with M3

Cat and Laid and BenBrus gotta play and get a chance to perform for the first couple months of the season to show some trade value. they really are the last pieces to sell in the rebuild. Well if wright and everyday eddie do well them too.

.500 or bust!

Bad Vibes Kill Rallies!

by Jayslick on Apr 3, 2008 12:00 AM CDT up reply actions

I agree with that...

for Cat and Laird but not Broussard.

I don't think he will have much or any trade value even by the ASB.

"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."-Socrates

by slc ranger on Apr 3, 2008 12:02 AM CDT up reply actions

i bet laird will decrease his value

right now you could still try to say that 2006 was real and 2007 was just a bad year and that laird is a good defensive catcher with offensive potential.

2 months from now there will be no question that laird can absolutely not hit.

by DShep on Apr 3, 2008 12:07 AM CDT up reply actions

This could also happen

"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."-Socrates

by slc ranger on Apr 3, 2008 12:10 AM CDT up reply actions

That is what appears to be happening already

I hope he either turns it around quickly, and regains his value, or he sucks so bad the y call Salty up.

But I don't want to see Laird langushing us with mediocrity. One extreme end of the scale or the other, please.

by LSJ on Apr 3, 2008 12:13 AM CDT up reply actions

Meh...

shitty game. How could they not get more than 3 hits off of Silva and Co.?

Oh well, it happens. Anaheim here we come.

Gabby. Not to mention Torri Huner, GMJ and a few other beasts. uggg I hope we don't get swept in anaheim.

They have to find a place to play him first...

with GMJ, Hunter, Vlad, and Anderson I don't think he starts but maybe 1 game.

Not sure...

I think Anderson was the DH today. I would much rather have GMJ in the OF over GA.

"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."-Socrates

by slc ranger on Apr 3, 2008 12:14 AM CDT up reply actions

Actually, they have a rotating DH

Between GMJ, Vlad, Anderson, and occasionally Rivera. Willits too, if they haven't sent him to AAA.

But from what I hear, GMJ is supposed to get most of the AB's at DH.

by LSJ on Apr 3, 2008 12:17 AM CDT up reply actions

I don't think we'll get swept

After all, it's gonna be Gabbard vs. Mosely in the first game. That sounds like a good game for one of those 12-11 slugouts.

But then it's Millwood/Weaver, and Padilla/Garland, so those could be some tough games...
