New front office guy
Rangers hire former President of the Baseball Hall of Fame to head up marketing efforts. Interestingly, he seems to have a lot of political ties.. perhaps he could help with the two guys being held back due to the marriage visa scam?
Quoting the article to hit word limit:
The Rangers on Wednesday hired former National Baseball Hall of Fame president Dale Petroskey for the newly created position of executive vice president of marketing and community development.

Keeeerist almighty
In 2003, he cancelled a celebration of “Bull Durham’s” 15th anniversary because Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins opposed the war in Iraq. He said
We believe your very public criticism of President Bush at this important – and sensitive – time in our nation’s history helps undermine the U.S. position, which ultimately could put our troops in even more danger.
I’m not trying to start a political debate. But to say that celebrating Bull Durham (a pretty damn good baseball movie) – again, a movie – will put troops in harms way is pretty goddamn stupid.
Thank god he cancelled the Bull Durham BBQ and mantinee or else we might still be in Iraq.
What happened to my old signature?
Matinee
I should have just written manatee. At least I could blame it on spell checker. Still, the guy’s THE definition of a sycophant (spell check says “OK”; nice).
What happened to my old signature?
Well...
...I don’t know if Hicks would endorse that action per se, but his politics certainly lean that way. He was a big booster of Giuliani’s presidential bid. That worked out well.
how many ppl have called it

To be fair though...
Bull Durham wasn’t even 1989’s best baseball movie.
That title belongs to Major League.

To be fairer
Bull Durham was released in the summer of 1988.

The guy was spot on.
Everybody knows a good democracy flourishes with as little vigilant dissent as possible.
I’m pretty sure Thomas Jefferson said that.
It was either him or Toby Keith.

Anyone know how the pardon's get started?
Can we start a campaign to get our two boys outta of the DR? With Sidney Ponson lined up to be our season savior, we’ll probably need something else to keep us busy until August.
I just hope this guy
gets rid of those stupid ‘you could use some baseball’ ads.
I interviewed this guy when he came to speak at our University a couple of years back
and I asked the worst questions ever; so it’s a good thing that I no longer interview people.
bad questions?
“Sir, the poiicies you have set forth seem to have no other goal than to stifle free speech and, quite frankly, look similar to a child who is not getting his way taking his ball and going home. So, sir, I have but one question. If you could be a tree, what tree would you be?”
