Manager tendencies.. in strange visual form
http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2008/04/01/science/0401-sci-PROFILE.lg.jpg
Last row of the image explains it. Not sure about the crazy faces way of representing it, but its still interesting to see how different managers generally rank at some of this stuff.
RW apparently never runs batters with the pitch.
To fill out the words requirement.. here is an article that talks about the system.. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/01/science/01prof.html?ex=1364702400&en=c8f70d006f87dbd9&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss

So...
Wash is of Asian decent, and cuts his own hair?
I am confused.
...it's the weekend, so why the hell not?

more like
he bunts a lot, doesn't move runners, and doesn't use pinch runners.
admittedly half the reason i posted it was for reactions to its crazy-ness, but it does have stats behind it.

NIXON: NOW MORE THAN EVER

Very interesting Shep
So basically, what that's telling us is, Ron's game of trying to play small ball is flawed, because he only uses certain aspects of small ball?
One thing's for sure, it's got our glorious manager's tendencies nailed. Too bad that guy didn't include bullpen management in his equation.

Well, according to that chart
All he does is bunt, and change his lineups around. He doesn't run too much. But then again, he doesn't really have a great team to be running with anyway, so in one respect, it's not really his fault that small ball doesn't work with this team.
Ron's problem is that he tries to play small ball with this offense. He bunts with too many guys who can't bunt, and he has a hard time with the hit-and-runs, because this team strikes out to danged much. The bottom line is, he really just doesn't know what the hell he's doing with this team, and he shuffles the lineups around in the bottom of the order to try and compensate for that. Which that chart kind of evidences.

you got all of that
from the fact that he bunts? you could have just said he bunts a lot.

No, I got all that from watching him "manage" this team
But you're right, I could have just said he bunts a lot... or tries to bunt a lot.

It's Not An April Fools
I've messed around with displaying political data using Chertoff Faces in both SAS and R.
I don't get the usefulness of it, but what the hell. I don't get the usefulness of a lot of things.
