OT: Software question
I consider myself fairly knowledgable about computers, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to save user settings in-session.
You know how when you log off of Windows XP, it displays "Saving your settings..." and saves your profile (icon arrangements, desktop status, etc)? Is it possible to save those "settings" without logging off?
It's not a restore point. The Internet has failed me thus far. Any help appreciated.

is it giving you problems or something?
i didnt think that was something it really needed to "save" per se.
I know ive reset my computer without properly logging off and the icons and such stay the same...

My settings never retain if I don't log off properly
I keep my computer on all of the time, which means if it locks up, or my keyboard craps out, I have to press the reset button. None of my changes are saved if I do that. They do save properly after logging off, though, so I know my profile isn't corrupt.
