can't
can’t take the cap hit. Move him to LB where he won’t be up against the pass too often, let him be in there ONLY on 1st and 2nd downs…

The problem
He’s too small to be a 3-4 LB. And I don’t know who you’d bench to make room for him.
Plus, he’s in a snit about the defense being a poor fit for him anyway…I don’t know how well he’d be able (or willing) to make the transition.

Greg Ellis
said the defense was a poor fit for him last year as well…
I say just use him in certain situations.
Never play him on 3rd downs.

One good thing
about his approach is that, assuming that they have to do that, just use him as a part time/specialty player, he has isolated himself from the rest of the team to a great degree, so you wouldn’t think that his sulking over a lack of PT would cause morale issues on the defense or team as a whole.

From what Todd Archer calculated
it seems like they could easily take the cap hit. The problem that I see is that their safety situation would be woefully shallow if they let a body go. I think I’d still be in favor of cutting him.
