BTF

BTF has a thread about this story. Interestingly enough, somebody claims that Sloane had a similar exchange with Bob Klapisch when Delgado signed with the Marlins instead of the Mets in ‘05. Another person says there was a recent thread about Brandon Webb’s agent, who likes to post on blogs and capitalize words arbitrarily.

ha! Sloane's cool, writer is a nerd

Hilarious exchange. That writer is indeed a douche. Sloane used “short bus” and “your mom” so he clearly wins this.

Apparently

I’m not qualified to be an agent.

...and curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.

Journalist

Well, the journalist wasn’t innocent either. He was acting like a jackass as well. It looks like 2 men who have much too healthy opinions of themselves.

agreed

It’s extremely tacky to publish the contents of an email exchange when the other person has not consented to it. Really bad form on the journo’s part.

Makes you wonder

how common this behavior is and what negotiations are like. How does a man like this go into an arbitration hearing?

Miles

Good news, Miles. You can be either a journalist or a sports agent when you grow up!

The choices,

the choices…

I think I can learn a few things from that agent…

just not in the way he wanted it to.

Gee :(

I’m a journalist… I try not to display that level of jackassery or douchebaggery in my e-mail exchanges, though.

OT: Hicks on Nolan

This wasn’t fan post worthy so I figured I’d throw it in the most recent post.

Dallas Observer Blog discussing Hicks on Babe’s show last night

"If Nolan Ryan would’ve been here we never would’ve traded Chris Young."

Picking a random blog comment and wielding it as a club to bash "blogs" is like picking a random romance novel off an airport bookstore shelf and saying, "This book sucks. Fuck you, Tolstoy -- your medium is worthless!" - Ken Tremendous

Hicks is a dumbass...

Acting like he was a victim and didn’t want that trade?

He signed off on it.

Wow

Nah

I take it as more of a slap on the people JD was getting his recommendations from. That said, JD still takes final responsibility for the move.

wow

whats wrong with him… not only is that fairly questionable logic, even if it were true he should never publicly say it while JD is around.

He's the owner

It’s his bus. He can throw anyone he wants under it. There are no consequences. Why should he wait to pass the buck? He’s never going to accept blame for anything. We buy his tickets.

LOL

That’s hilarious. I don’t think the journalist was really to blame. The agent is the one that was immature throughout the whole thing. The journalist just kind of egged him on a bit.
