I believe so....

Naw, we've had a couple games that have had just one thread

Silverlight

I’m tempted to try it out. It would probably be worth eating a month subscription even if it didn’t work that well. It seems OK when looking at highlights on MLB.com, but I have no idea what a full game stream would do to me.

by MeanMr.Mustard on May 12, 2008 9:07 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

It's worked for me

Media player tended to stop to buffer and would occasionally lose the game altogether… also, the newest version, if another window came up the screen would turn black and if I moved the window with media player in it a bit, the picture would come back.

by Inkara1 on May 12, 2008 9:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It's pretty good

If you can get it working immediately. Lots and lots of people having problems with it.

Following the game @ 1.2M looks great, but will leave you behind in the game as compared to the rest of the gameday thread. If that matters to you.

Depends...

on what speed you’re using.

800k seems to be real time.

by cmkelly29 on May 12, 2008 9:13 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm on 400K

Too cheap to get 800K or 1.2M and my DSL seems to be not so great… although with silverlight being smoother, maybe it would be worth the upgrade now.

by Inkara1 on May 12, 2008 9:14 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

At this point

I just want to be able to see or hear the games. Delays aren’t really a big deal to me.

Like I said, Silverlight’s worked OK for me on the freebie highlight vids, so I hopefully wouldn’t experience the issues you’re referring to.

Maybe, just maybe, if the starter gives up a bunch of runs in the first inning and then recovers to throw four scoreless… DON’T SEND HIM OUT FOR THE SIXTH.

I don't mind

You have to try and spare your bullpen any time you can have your starter go out and pitch an extra inning. As long as someone is ready to go at the first sign of trouble, I can live with that decision.

WTF?
Then there’s the issue of safety. About 8.7 million residents live in the state and many of them, including more than one million senior citizens, have little experience in pumping gas. Assemblyman Francis L. Bodine® said this is one reason he’s opposed to the idea. Plus, “If I’m dressed up, I don’t want to get out and smell like a gas pump,” said Bodine, who represents the Mount Laurel area near Philadelphia.

It’s not rocket science, and that quote is just ridiculous.

One thing that just occurred to me

Do they have 24-hour gas stations there?

Here in California, many stations lock up at 10 or whatever, but leave on the pumps, which have card readers in them.

Thing for me is...

I’m very specific about how I do my gas. I pump on the slowest setting the pump will do, and once it clicks off the first time, I do two more clicks. My guess is the gas station attendant will have it pump as fast as it can (sending more vapor back into the station’s tank) and not top it off at all.

by Inkara1 on May 12, 2008 9:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

and top it off a lot more than I ever would. They click at least 8 clicks passed. I always wondered about that.
