1 You thought Deepthroat meant Lewinsky
2 When you realized you were wrong, you ran to Google to throw out Felt’s name and All the President’s Men to act like you knew what you were talking about all along…

Just admit you screwed up and move along…

bullshit

what makes you think you know more about Watergate than I do?

And why, if you knew what was being talked about, did you tell me flat out to brush up on my history? Yoiu made a stupid statement and my response was because it seemed that you thought miles was older than he was considering the topic… If you were really just ‘telling a joke’ then being an ass with your ‘history’ remarks were a poor decision…

You, sir, screwed up and got caught. Own up to it like a man..

OK. I have a degree in Political Science. Before anyone chimes in, I know it’s a useless piece of paper, but it should at least demonstrate to you that I have some idea of what I’m talking about. I’ve at least HEARD of both of those events.

Point is: I know the fucking difference between Watergate and Lewinsky. I know more about those events because I’m smart and you’re not. Smart people can read between the lines. It was a goof, and the fact that you’re so adamant on this point just mystifies me.

I know what I’m talking about, and you don’t. Get over it like a man.

by brettgardner on May 12, 2008 11:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Sir

I have an MA in History. I, too, know what I’m talking about concerning those events.

The whole point was that you were not making a joke. Making mistakes and then claiming that it was all a joke when someone points out your lack of knowledge is a sure sign of someone with low self-esteem.

I should add that since I am pointing out your mistakes one by one, actually proving my point, and all you seem to be able to do is call me names and throw out hyperbole, I would venture that I am much more intelligent than you and your vitriol is due to your embarrassment.

You’ve proven, not only to me, that you can’t own up to your own mistakes.

I never said you didn't know the difference between the two

just that you got them confused. And your post throwing out random things connected to the event smacked of someone trying to claw their way out of a corner.

For the record, I never called your intelligence into question. nor did I throw out names at you. If I got the situation wrong (which I still believe I did not) then I apologize. But I never insulted you, only your position and your actions.

Let us not forget

Doug Mathis got his first big league win in his first big league game. I don’t know what his future is, but I love that a guy like him was able to get a Major League win. No matter what happens, he’ll always be able to talk about this game.

Watching your team win on a walk-off called by the opponent’s homerific announcers sucks.

I’ll have to watch the replay on MLB TV.

Two "if's" for ya:

IF Warner Madrigal is as awesome as they say, and

IF CJ Wilson does not improve, Madrigal will be closer by the season’s end.

Wes Littleton.

Nothing would be sweeter

than Madrigal closing out wins against the Halos at the end of the season to put the Rangers in the playoffs, or at least keep Anaheim out.

To be fair, they pitch half their games in Arlington.

Johjima’s home run probably would’ve died in Seattle or Anaheim, for example.

Still not an excuse

It isn’t like this is a rare occurence for CJ right now. He’s been shaky for awhile now.

If Gagne had actually been good in Boston, with him, Papelbon, and Okajima

actually turning into the vaunted triad of late-inning domination, then it would’ve been a good deal for both sides.

However, Gagne busted (and as he continues to do this season), and it turned out to be quite a pretty steal.

Excellent high upside minors prospect, decent outfielder, and decent back of the rotation starter when healthy? Yes please.
