Like I said, awesome moment.

But the Mariners’ unenthusiastic call sucked my excitement.

I think I just

lost several weeks of lifespan. If this was a playoff it would have been several years. I hate games like that, even though they won I’m pissed.

Ok...

I had about 4 hours of nothing to do during work today and nothing to do until the game started today, and nothing to do now… (Finals = dead time). So yeah, it would have been nice to have something to read.

My three favorite numbers: 10, 32, 36. =)

by utlonghorn24 on May 12, 2008 11:45 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Ah

I know all about dead time.

Seriously, I don’t know why TR’s mailbag isn’t up. My theory is, his mailbag has become such a joke, he doesn’t get enough serious questions to post mailbags on a regular basis.

CJ with a 5.40 ERA

If this keeps up… Frankie Frank has been dominating, so perhaps he should get a shot at closing down the road.

There is no such thing as global warming. David Murphy was cold, so he turned the sun up.

im not that worried.

well im worried, but not so much as to want to bring someone in who before a few days ago was highly questionable.

a bit too early

before today his ERA was in the low 3s

by clark on May 12, 2008 11:31 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Agree

And not that this means anything, but he has to be the most unimposing closer in baseball. Most closer are huge imposing figueres and the Rangers have the next American Idol prancing in from the bullpen.

As I said in the game thread

Nothing would be sweeter than for him to close games against Anaheim in September to put the Rangers in the playoffs or at least keep the Halos out.

I think his role can be a bit bigger than a LOOGY

I think he’d probably make a nice 8th inning releiver. If only we had a better option for closer, he and Joaquin Benoit could split time in the 8th inning, and then our bullpen would look a little better right now.

But I am starting to come around to the fact that he is not a long-term option for closer.

Theory on CJ

Don’t know if someone hypothesized this already since after Johjima (and really, of all people, JOHJIMA?) hit that homer, the comments pretty much exploded.

I think that after CJ’s the kind of guy where after he finishes warming up, he needs to get in the game ASAP. The last few times he’s gotten hit, if I’m not mistaken, it’s been a situation where he’s ready but we draw a couple of walks or we get a few men on with 2 outs.

Or he could just be hurt.

by LiamP on May 12, 2008 11:34 PM CDT   0 recs

Is this game going to be much better tomorrow

when I don’t have ambien in my system? I think i’m kind of underrating it.

by cmkelly29 on May 12, 2008 11:38 PM CDT   0 recs

Ben used to take Ambien

It helped him for a while, then he basically got used to it and it quit working.

Anyway, I think that’s a good plan. I need to start watching the Rangers while on Ambien.

As it is, I got none of the work done I planned on doing tonight, and I’m now too wired to go to sleep or focus on a book.

OT

ESPN is currently discussing whether the Saints are overrated …. in their own power rankings.

I hate this network. If FSN would ramp up the production value, Final Score would be the perfect highlight show.

Hammy blast

hittracker has it at 466 in standard distance, 5th longest of the year.

for true distance, eliminating all wind/temperature factors (which is kind of questionable, but hey) its got it at 467, but tied for 1st as some of the other top 5 were massively wind aided.

TRADE HANK!

I’d rather see Ramon in the iineup than Hank anyday! and not just because of the walk off. He’s got stones and makes this team better. Time to consider making him an every day player, and the only way to do that is at 3rd.

by Clubba Lane on May 13, 2008 8:16 AM CDT   0 recs

Trading Hank

will be one of the top topics, this year and next.

His last really solid year was 2004. Either Injury or suckitude has hit every year since then. The Rangers have to decide whether or not to give him $6.2 million on an option next year. I know I would shop him.

I know I still regret the Rangers never closing the deal with him and the Marlins.

Trading Hank

Trading Hank for a solid package of prospects in order to slide Young over to 3B is a very real possibility and one that I would be okay with.

Trading Hank in order to replace him with Ramon Vazquez is another story. Vazquez is a utility player that hit a walk-off HR last night and now he is the flavor of the day. He isn’t a starter.

by jparks77 on May 13, 2008 10:49 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah, Vazquez is no long term solution

but he might be part of the interim solution if someone inexplicably wants to trade for Hank.

"Before I leave, I once again condemn the despicable buffoonery of D.J. Cahill." - Huck

by DJCahill on May 13, 2008 11:10 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Agree

although I would rather see Duran or Metcalf start at 3B over Vazquez. He is better suited for the utility role.

by jparks77 on May 13, 2008 11:18 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Id rather see them slide Young to 3B

and see Vazquez or Duran at SS, but thats probably a pipedream.

Imagine Beckett and Lowell

in Ranger unis…. along with Chris Young and A-Gonz. Hell, this team might not have been so bad and Tex might have decided to stick around. Sigh.
