We need some looks back

at some older drafts also. It’d be good to look at drafts of 4, 5, and 6 years ago where the results are pretty much known.

Actually

Who’s closer to a promo…Gomez or Holland?

Kennil’s last couple starts have been worse, but without looking I’d say his numbers are stronger on the year.

But yeah, same difference.

Holland

He’s two years older and has 3 times as many starts under his belt. Gomez is doing well, but he only has 8 starts so far. I’d leave him where he is for a while yet.

...and curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.

about average IMHO

Kiker – looks to be on track. Hopefully gets to Frisco this year.
Tracy – disappointing
Lemon – on track, excellent OBP
Davis – 3BB/9K in last 41AB. That’s an improvement.

I'm not so sure

that Velazquez is in extended. I have no clue where he is, but I didn’t see him in spring training.

So, if it was a 20 round draft

we would have missed out on Holland, Fry, Dennis and Herrera.

Tragic.

With no more Draft and Follows

It should definitely be a 30 round draft, 35 at the most.

Nice little run

In the teens there. Mathis has a big league win now, Murphy looks to have stepped his game up and could contribute in the future. Kea needs to get his walks down, but he could contribute later this year. Hall looked good until his sudden retirement. Dominguez…too bad we couldn’t get him signed. Those are some nice numbers.

by clark on May 13, 2008 3:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Lemon

When it is all said and done, he could rival Davis or Kiker as the best pick of this draft.

Wow

That was supposed to be a response to the 2006 breakdown a few slots above. Not sure what happened there.

Boy, those 2000 and 2001 drafts sure turned out bad

2000… Laynce Nix, Nick Masset and AJ Murray are the best three out of that bunch as far as the Rangers are concerned. Six of the players are listed as “out of baseball.” 2001 was even worse… CJ Wilson was in that class, and we know what we got from Mark Teixeira… six other players in that draft are out of baseball now and the last player didn’t sign (and later went to Oakland). So there were so few picks and a tiny percentage of them amounted to anything.

2002’s only a little bit better.
