Just a base hit

is all we need. Let’s go Hamilton.

One good thing

Okay, people...

Were you guys really complaining because someone with a career 488 OPS against lefties was lifted for a PH against a LHP?

No...

I’m complaining that the PH was Byrd

more of a complaint

about Byrd. And also, when a guy is hot, a guy is hot (vazquez). No problems w/ Laird (who is hitting well) hitting for the lefty Cat.

by coachh on May 14, 2008 3:32 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yes I was...

Byrd just came off of the DL and sucked before he went on the DL. I don’t want a struggling hitter who hasn’t seen a ML pitch in a month at the plate in that situation. Period.

by Topgun22 on May 14, 2008 3:34 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yes

because the PH hasn’t seen major league pitching in a month, was ice cold before, and has shown career suckitude.

by Athos on May 14, 2008 3:36 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I blame RW

more than Byrd. Byrd hasn’t seen a major league pitch in like a month.

by DJCahill on May 14, 2008 3:37 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

He had faced AAA pitching for a few games

If he hadn’t had a rehab stint, and had been facing major league pitching instead of AAA pitching the past few days, would it have been acceptable to send him up there?

by Adam J. Morris on May 14, 2008 3:38 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

If he had done something against ML pitching recently

it’d have been fine to put him in a late inning one run game with bases loaded and one out.

Otherwise, it was retarded to put him in a high leverage situation like that.

"Before I leave, I once again condemn the despicable buffoonery of D.J. Cahill." - Huck

by DJCahill on May 14, 2008 3:40 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Not to mention

He can’t play third and had to use Duran to put in for Byrd.

by FuturePants on May 14, 2008 3:41 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

...but had he been hitting better than before the DL?

If so, then the pinch hit would have made more sense. As it stands, the team’s hottest hitter with the highest average (cherry-picked, I know) is pulled for a dude who was hitting about .120 before going on the DL and who had seen zero ML pitches in weeks. The decision making process there is so illogical and frustrating.

its worse than that

the ball hit by byrd was very slowly hit and anyone else on the team could have beaten it out on one leg. one broken leg.
