If he hadn’t had a rehab stint, and had been facing major league pitching instead of AAA pitching the past few days, would it have been acceptable to send him up there?

If he had done something against ML pitching recently

it’d have been fine to put him in a late inning one run game with bases loaded and one out.

Otherwise, it was retarded to put him in a high leverage situation like that.

...but had he been hitting better than before the DL?

If so, then the pinch hit would have made more sense. As it stands, the team’s hottest hitter with the highest average (cherry-picked, I know) is pulled for a dude who was hitting about .120 before going on the DL and who had seen zero ML pitches in weeks. The decision making process there is so illogical and frustrating.

Not when he’s been struggling. Especially if you don’t know how long this game will go on. If this lasts 15 innings, Mathis could have pitched at least three. Instead you’ve burned through another pitcher in a game when no one knows how long it will last.

He has had his problems all year

Not enough K’s, too many fly balls, basically. His K/9 and K/BB ratios are pretty bad, while his flyball ratio is upwards of 45%. At this point, I don’t see saying he sucks as knee-jerking, just telling it like it is.

speaking of the ballGIRLS

I’m boycotting them. I can’t stand them. 99% of the time they boot anything headed their way and the outfielder has to run in and the outfielder has to run in and shag the ball anyway. Anyone else feel me? I miss “Zack” that guy was lights out down the right field line.
