Byrd just came off of the DL and sucked before he went on the DL. I don’t want a struggling hitter who hasn’t seen a ML pitch in a month at the plate in that situation. Period.

If he had done something against ML pitching recently
it’d have been fine to put him in a late inning one run game with bases loaded and one out.

...but had he been hitting better than before the DL?
If so, then the pinch hit would have made more sense. As it stands, the team’s hottest hitter with the highest average (cherry-picked, I know) is pulled for a dude who was hitting about .120 before going on the DL and who had seen zero ML pitches in weeks. The decision making process there is so illogical and frustrating.
