Okay, people...
Were you guys really complaining because someone with a career 488 OPS against lefties was lifted for a PH against a LHP?
No...
I’m complaining that the PH was Byrd

more of a complaint
about Byrd. And also, when a guy is hot, a guy is hot (vazquez). No problems w/ Laird (who is hitting well) hitting for the lefty Cat.
Yes I was...
Byrd just came off of the DL and sucked before he went on the DL. I don’t want a struggling hitter who hasn’t seen a ML pitch in a month at the plate in that situation. Period.

I think Byrd is the new Benny B around here.
I blame RW
more than Byrd. Byrd hasn’t seen a major league pitch in like a month.
"Before I leave, I once again condemn the despicable buffoonery of D.J. Cahill." - Huck
He had faced AAA pitching for a few games
If he hadn’t had a rehab stint, and had been facing major league pitching instead of AAA pitching the past few days, would it have been acceptable to send him up there?
by Adam J. Morris on May 14, 2008 3:38 PM CDT up reply actions
If he had done something against ML pitching recently
it’d have been fine to put him in a late inning one run game with bases loaded and one out.
Otherwise, it was retarded to put him in a high leverage situation like that.
"Before I leave, I once again condemn the despicable buffoonery of D.J. Cahill." - Huck
Not to mention
He can’t play third and had to use Duran to put in for Byrd.
"Gabbard's not gonna hit Richie Sexson. You got a guy coming up there who can't hit water if he fell out of a boat. And you think hes gonna throw at HIM?" -TAG
...but had he been hitting better than before the DL?
If so, then the pinch hit would have made more sense. As it stands, the team’s hottest hitter with the highest average (cherry-picked, I know) is pulled for a dude who was hitting about .120 before going on the DL and who had seen zero ML pitches in weeks. The decision making process there is so illogical and frustrating.
"Gabbard's not gonna hit Richie Sexson. You got a guy coming up there who can't hit water if he fell out of a boat. And you think hes gonna throw at HIM?" -TAG
its worse than that

vasquez > byrd right now
mathis > CJ right now
No
Not when he’s been struggling. Especially if you don’t know how long this game will go on. If this lasts 15 innings, Mathis could have pitched at least three. Instead you’ve burned through another pitcher in a game when no one knows how long it will last.

re: Ann Coulter - "She doesn't get raped nearly enough." - DJ Cahill
He has had his problems all year
Not enough K’s, too many fly balls, basically. His K/9 and K/BB ratios are pretty bad, while his flyball ratio is upwards of 45%. At this point, I don’t see saying he sucks as knee-jerking, just telling it like it is.

But his performance so far has changed my mind.
We’re talking about a guy who’s had exactly one dominant year out of the bullpen, and whose periphrials are borderline… maybe “sucks” is a little harsh, but I don’t think he can cut it as closer long-term.

speaking of the ballGIRLS
I’m boycotting them. I can’t stand them. 99% of the time they boot anything headed their way and the outfielder has to run in and the outfielder has to run in and shag the ball anyway. Anyone else feel me? I miss “Zack” that guy was lights out down the right field line.

ballgirls are better than ballguys 100% of the time regardless of their fielding ability

Put your pensises down for a second
they slow things down and suck. They’re great for serving my beer after the game, but they’re supposed to be serving a purpose out there which they fail miserably at.

mark connor called his stuff electric when he first came here
and we mocked him by calling him the electrician.
its now a term of endearment though.

Rally turtle.
Started by CJ Wilson & Co. two seasons ago. It’s much more powerful than the Rally Monkey. All hail the rally turtle.

i dont know about 500 random turtles off google images though. i dont know why today was chosen to unleash the wrath of one thousand turtles rather than the usual couple of rally pics.

Yours are gold. Admittedly, I’m just a poser.

Okay
If we are going to have 50 pictures of turtles up in the gameday thread, there doesn’t need to be any complaining about how slow the refresh is, because those images really slow it down.
What would be best...
is if the tech guys would have an option to ignore images and signatures.
i can complain

I don't think anyone dislikes the idea of the turtle
It’s the fact that 600 of them exist, and we only need one.

but they actually need to be used for a rally. Not willy nilly. Let’s not de-value the turtle power, as it were.
That’s right, no willy nilly turtles. Ya hear?
