Newberg Report/"In Their Footsteps": The middle reliever
The sixth installment of my weekly column for MLB.com, “In Their Footsteps,” has been posted on the official Rangers website, www.texasrangers.com. This week’s edition focuses on the middle reliever – my favorite from Rangers franchise history and who from the current system might best project to fill that roster spot in the future.
Here’s a direct link to the column:
Here are the players previously featured:
Backup catcher: Bill Haselman Manny Pina
Long reliever: Danny Darwin Michael Schlact/Doug Mathis
Fourth outfielder: Ruben Sierra Brandon Boggs
Situational lefty: Mike Venafro Ryan Falcon
Utility infielder: Mark DeRosa German Duran

Garr
What is the story on him? It seemed like he was being fast tracked, but he seems to have hit a bit of a wall in Frisco this year. Has anyone seen him so far this season? I would think Garr, Laughter, and Batista would make for a potent 7-8-9 combo in the bullpen this year for Frisco.

Beautiful appearance last night
I keep my eye on Garr, liked his numbers in BAK quite a bit.
