Sigh
i feel stupid.
backing out of the garage to leave….. woops, there goes my sideview mirror.
no bobblehead for me. BGL =(
Gerald Laird is my hero.
wft??
Huh? You were going to go to the game and now you can’t because you knocked your mirror off?

well i could
seems kind of akward to drive a hour to the stadium and back with a mirror dangling by a wire out the window. cant get it inside the car.
i dont know, ive never broken one before. am i supposed to just keep going =p?
Gerald Laird is my hero.
I did the same thing to mine..
well actually someone drove by and knocked it off.. I epoxed it and taped it and months later its still holding strong. tape it to the side of the car so it doesn’t dangle until you have the time to epoxy it and let it dry.

I know the feeling
we arent going tonight afterall….. so now i need to find someone with an extra cj bobblehead to sell.
at least its just a sideview mirror, cant be too expensive to fix.

hasnt started throwing yet
and wont for several weeks.
then he will have to regain strength and rehab again.
best case scenario is the all star break.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
I watched Danks pitch deep into the game
vs LAA the other night. sigh – the athleticism, the focus, the competitiveness, the mound presence all blew BMac’s bag outta the water. Wonder if we’ll ever see outta BMac what J.D.’s scouts thought they’d see.

Beavan
gave up 2 runs in the 1st on a triple and a HR. Does anyone know how hard he’s throwing this year? How’s that “nasty slider” looking?
So Lewin just said Berkman's production is surpassed by Hamilton.
Yeah yeah, home announcers have to be rah rah for the home team, but I still thought that was funny.
Well
he’s right. He has produced more runs than Berkman has…by one.

But it was the player’s that decided that their play had improve, when you would that the inspiration would come the managerial/coaching staff. Of course that is if you believe Evan Grant’s about the 4/25 players only meeting.
the Rangers are taking more pitches per at-bat...
...and infield practice before games…
only 3 errors on that West Coast trip… in 7 games… not great, but better than what it was.
i think that’s a reflection on coaching.

I was in the car when the game started, and listening to the Astros broadcast…
One of their announcers said that Ponson could eat innings, and the other one said, “Why not? He eats everything else.”
They then laughed at him being listed at 258 lbs., and one said, “Maybe in the 8th grade.”
Now…does Ponson look like he weighs significantly more than 258 right now?

Anybody else getting the vibe that the Astros/Rangers seem to be "trying" a bit harder than normal?
Maybe it’s just everybody’s mannerisms…
Geez
What are we doing? Letting them have mercy runs?

this
is why i hate ground ball pitchers, we need strikeout pitchers
Vintage Sidney Ponson, man, vintage Sidney...

Sure am glad my internet came back up
just in time to see Ponson give back 3 runs on a series of really hard hit balls ;- )
Goddamn, Wash
That was your chance to get Sidney out, and have as much time as you needed to warm up the bullpen!!!

Nope
He just blew the chance to claim injury, and let Mathis or Rupe have as much time as they needed, too…

sure was nice having a 6 run lead....geez Sidney Fatass

And Lee
waddles toward home…and is out by 50 yards!!!
Wow, what a close play!
...it's the weekend, so why the hell not?
Ron Washington
not satisfied with his newfound job security. that was horrible. f* giving a pitcher the win.
Salty knew what he was doing
Just stood to the side rather than let Carlos Lee try to barrell over him
Okay.
Why was Ponson left in to give up base hit after base hit there? I’ve got to think he should have been pulled after the first few runs came across.
Thanks professor
Your clear writing made it shine through so much, I feel like such a dolt for missing it…

Still not an excuse for Ponson being left in there all damn inning

That was lucky as hell
Ron Washington is a fucking moron for not taking Sidney out.

Yep
All the runs in that inning are unearned.

is that the explanation for leaving him in there?

Explanation is...
Ron is either asleep, blind, stupid, or all of the above.

dude, don't be a quack...
...even with the off-day, this bullpen isn’t exactly 100%

Mathis is fairly fresh
And has pitched well of late. Rupe should also be ready to go. It’s the back of the bullpen that’s gassed, not the mid-relief.

Mathis is probably making a spot start next week, sir.
Rupe gave up two inherited runs last time he came out.

Well
He could have brought in Frankie, too, who has an excellent history regarding inherited runners…
But point taken.

Nah
The explanation is probably that Ponson wasn’t really getting hit hard, so much as just having balls get in, and Washington wanted to try to get him the W.
by Adam J. Morris on May 16, 2008 8:46 PM CDT up reply actions
i'll buy that.
...i would have left him in. none of those hits were really smacked.

He
Would do the same thing at any of those places that he does here: provide nice pinch starts at various positions. You need guys like him, but that doesn’t make him Babe Ruth.

Which is why he put him into a tie game in extra innings in his debut

G'day
Stros fan dropping in here, since CrawfishBoxes have been quiet.
Plus I’m some sort of fan-whore…all my other loyalties lie with Dallas teams-the Mavs, the Stars and the Cowboys. Just I gave the Rangers up about eight years ago when I realized they would never win when anchoring a $250 million man in the lineup.
