Well, Dustin Nippert and Robbie Tejeda are working as starters as well

And it’s been said they’re still being looked at as bullpen guys. So I don’t think that means anything really, it’s just a way to get his innings up.

At this point, with Hurley and Harrison apparently close to being ready, I don’t think the Rangers view him as a starter anymore.

yup

in another month or 2, i think he should be okay to pitch an inning…

And that is my biggest problem with CJ

Quit trying to be cute an throw the perfect pitch everytime and just go get em

by SaltyDawg on May 19, 2008 11:22 PM CDT up reply actions

When Millwood returns

CJ should be sent to AA to stretch himself out as a starter. If he can’t close then he shouldn’t be in the bullpen.

by Hull Fan on May 19, 2008 11:24 PM CDT up reply actions

Furthermore

He has said that if he can’t close, he doesn’t want to be in the bullpen.

He is either a starter or a closer in his mind

And it’s looking more and more like the latter is not the long term fit

by SaltyDawg on May 19, 2008 11:26 PM CDT up reply actions

if he's not going to be happy

which he won’t if he isn’t closing, Then he needs to be moved because it’s obvious he can’t get the job done. This year is supposed to be about development. Well here’s where we need to start. Sit CJ down and tell him he’s going to Frisco to make a move to the rotation. He stays in Dallas but works on what he needs somewhere other than on the ML roster.

by Hull Fan on May 19, 2008 11:28 PM CDT up reply actions

so two blown saves in ten attempts......

means he cant get the job done what did he do last year blow like one save in 14 attempts he isnt a terrible closer but i do think he would be a better starter, plus this guy is an AWESOME asset to this community with all the stuff he does with charity and D.A.R.E.

by blueballlefty on May 19, 2008 11:32 PM CDT up reply actions

5+ ERA

in his last couple of appearances and the incessant walks means that he should do something to figure out his control.

by FirebatM3 on May 19, 2008 11:34 PM CDT up reply actions

thats why i blame Wash.

last year CJ dominated and then Ron bitched about his P.C. all offseason and wanted him to change the way he pitched now his head is all fucked up and he is trying to figure everything out I think they should’ve just left him alone

by blueballlefty on May 19, 2008 11:42 PM CDT up reply actions

you're saying CJ is a mental midget?

by Longhorn on May 19, 2008 11:52 PM CDT up reply actions

CJ

was wild last year too. In case you weren’t paying attention.

CJ is too much like the rest of our bullpen save Eddie. He’s a guy that throws really well, but has iffy command, which is the same problem that Electrician, Jack, Franky and German has.

Honestly, if Andrew Laughter or Brennan Garr or Warner Madrigal or Thomas Diamond or whoever can just come up and throw goddamn strikes, I’d be estatic.

by FirebatM3 on May 19, 2008 11:55 PM CDT up reply actions

he has some

stuff that he has to work out right now. If he can turn it around into a positive, bless him, but the fact that he’s giving guys all these free outs doesn’t speak well of his ability as a closer right now.

by FirebatM3 on May 19, 2008 11:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Whatever the answer is

Ron has to provide it quickly.

This can’t be an ugly situation like it was with Buck and Coco. Address it. Either you run CJ out there again tomorrow. Or you publically announce that Eddie/Frankie/Jack is taking over while CJ figure it out.

i really didnt think it would be possible or me to be this down on the rangers right now

But washington is making me mad with the bunts and telling blalock that yes he needs to move to 1b. Especially with cat/shelton heating up.
JD makes me mad by allowing it.
Michael makes me mad by his dismissive comments that make him sound like he thinks hes the GM, and by looking terrible at the plate in those 2 days.

And the rangers blow two very winnable games and their momentum may or may not be stopped.

blah.

You know

I think I’d feel a lot better if MY just came out and said, just once, “that was on me. It was a play a ML shortstop has to make, and I didn’t make it.”

He'll never do that

In fact, I think that’s why he’s being a jerk about the idea of moving to third base. He doesn’t want to admit he sucks monkey balls at SS.

So all this MY talk......

I know his contract is hefty but do you think we could work out a C.Bucholz and maybe J.Lowrie, mid-level prospect for him if we are out of it. I think we have a new emerging FOTF in Hamilton/Kinsler, so what do you think?

by blueballlefty on May 19, 2008 11:44 PM CDT reply actions

I don't think there's any way in hell

we get that return without eating some serious cash on his deal. Also doesn’t he have a no trade clause or something? Who desprately needs a 2nd baseman?

by Hull Fan on May 19, 2008 11:48 PM CDT up reply actions

lugo's contract goes on another 2 years after this one

i think they probably stick it out with him.

by blueballlefty on May 20, 2008 12:25 AM CDT up reply actions

No way Boston does that deal

the teams that are desperate for help in the MIF (more specifically, 2nd base) are

The Mets

......

Yeah, the Mets, that’s about it. The Rockies and Padres are out of it, so there’s not exactly a market for a guy like MY. Maybe the Cubs if Theriot continues to suck.

by FirebatM3 on May 19, 2008 11:53 PM CDT up reply actions

What a shitty game...

Fuck Tschida, I’ve never seen a more inconsistent strike zone in a MLB game.

Others I can do without right now are those who have been so quick to throw BGL under the bus. The same people that were doing that shit to Jack two weeks ago. Everyone is bound to have a rough stretch, These two guys were our best pitchers last year. They deserve a longer leash than what many are giving them. I’m tired of all the bitching about BGL.
